Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Hello, I am trying to create a page for the organisation I work with (OpenAIRE AMKE), as to establish a presence on wikipedia as there is none at the moment, other than secondary references. I assumed it would make sense to proceed with an article, however I think in order to present the organisation properly COI is unavoidable (to some extent, since the content is referncing the organisation). Would it be better to use the content to fill out the User Page instead? OpenAIRE AMKE (talk) 10:36, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
No. Please don't create an article about your own organisation. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 10:41, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of User:OpenAIRE AMKE

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:OpenAIRE AMKE, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

edit

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because it is an objective and factual representation of the organisations work, goals and history, containing references to both the institutions that support the organisation and the EU policies it serves and complies with. "Peacock terms" have been removed and links to the organisation's website have been limited to links containing necessary information to better display the organisations work and relevance, that would otherwise fill the page with irrelevant information regarding the organisations partnerships/ projects. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OpenAIRE AMKE (talkcontribs) 11:10, 10 October 10 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not a directory, so an organization is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of an organization, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the organization must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what an organization wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:45, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:31, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
