Speedy deletion nomination of Pirate party of oklahoma edit

A tag has been placed on Pirate party of oklahoma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. --moreno oso (talk) 04:10, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pirate Party of Oklahoma edit

Please be sure to include any independent reliable sources that have written about the Pirate Party of Oklahoma. That's the best way to avoid deletion. Good luck. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 18:58, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I tried to place all the independent sources I could think of right now. Some things, like the Platform, has not been covered much by independent sources except for the struggle regarding ballot access in Oklahoma. There is a news report by OETA-TV that mentions Marcus Kesler as the Administrator and shows that the party is politically active in Oklahoma, but the video was placed on YouTube by the Reporter and I have not been able to find a written transcript on the news site.Okpirates (talk) 12:18, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please see my comment on the talk page of Pirate Party of Oklahoma. In my opinion there should not be a separate article about the state party; rather, it should be merged/redirected to United States Pirate Party. My reasoning is explained there. I intend to go ahead and do this in a week if there are no objections; so if you object, please say so at the article's talk page before December 22. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 15:01, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
