Hello, Official hamdog! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. You may benefit from following some of the links below, which will help you get the most out of Wikipedia. If you have any questions you can ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking   or by typing four tildes "~~~~"; this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you are already excited about Wikipedia, you might want to consider being "adopted" by a more experienced editor or joining a WikiProject to collaborate with others in creating and improving articles of your interest. Click here for a directory of all the WikiProjects. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field when making edits to pages. Happy editing! Regarding your email

edit

Firstly, I do not discuss Wikipedia editing by email, only on the site itself. If I understand your email correctly, you wish to know why I reverted the changes made by 115.166.30.197 to Hamdog. The reason is really very simple, someone using that IP address made a large unexplained deletion of content which did not seem to comply with normal Wikipedia editing practices. The content which was removed was supported by citations to sources, so it is normal practice for people who see that type of unexplained removal to revert the change and warn the user who removed it that their edits did not appear to be constructive. The new information provided by that IP address was unsourced, and the person making the change chose to offer no rationale, explanation, or justification for the change in the requested edit summary. Taking all of the facts available at the time into consideration, it had the appearance of someone vandalising Wikipedia, including introducing errors of fact; something which is sadly a constant problem from people who have truly malicious intent (unlike yourself, I assume, on good faith).

You should raise your concerns with the current content on the article's talk page at Talk:Hamdog. We will be quite glad to correct any factual errors. The links I have added above explain how Wikipedia editing works, and the various content policies and guidelines. N.B. that I do not represent Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation in any official capacity, and am not responsible for the existing content in that article. Editorial control rests with the Wikipedia community as a whole.

Please note our conflict of interest policy, which applies to you, as you appear to have an official connection to the article concerned.

As an act of good faith, now that I have spotted the patent link included in the IP's change (I did not spot it previously, as it was not formatted as a normal Wikipedia reference), I have self-reverted and re-instated the changes made by the IP. Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Hamdog, and I noticed that your username, "Official hamdog", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Murph9000 (talk) 01:33, 22 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 11:16, 11 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
