Requested username:

Request reason:

The only reason I took a username with dotcom in the end is because nitinkhanna is not available. My intention was to make some edits, show to the Wikipedia community that I am serious about being a member and then request to take over the defunct account of nitinkhanna. That is my actual name and my identity on most of the Internet and I'd like to keep that username. The two edits I've made were in the interest of fixing things on Wikipedia, not self-aggrandizing. Please unblock my edit permissions and grant me the username of nitinkhanna.

Accept reason:

This is how I expected this would turn out. Since no one's used that name in the nearly seven years since the account was created, you may usurp it—follow the procedures there. Daniel Case (talk) 19:43, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Ptochocracy

edit

The article Ptochocracy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Nothing more than a dictionary definition. If the article could be expanded with examples of this concept in action, we might have something, but I suspect that the concept has never been seen in action, so such examples will be hard to come by.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. @WikiDan61 I believe that every word should find a place on Wikipedia. If one day we come across sources for the use of the word, someone can add to the page. Books that mention the word 'ptochocracy' can currently be found in Google Books, but since I own none of them, I cannot quote from them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nitinkhanna (talkcontribs)
Well, that's a fine belief. Unfortunately, Wikipedia guidelines state otherwise. You are free to challenge the existing guideline (by raising the issue at Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia is not a dictionary or at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)) but so long as the existing guideline remains in effect, all articles must conform to it. Yours does not, so the proposed deletion will remain. You could (and probably should) create an entry for ptochocracy at Wiktionary. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:32, 30 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I created an entry on Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia is not a dictionary and I hope you can address it there with regards to my logic. Thanks for pointing out the resource... I'm also going forth and adding a Wiktionary page, but I believe the word has a better place on Wikipedia, where people can find more information and expand this stub.

Nomination of Ptochocracy for deletion

edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Ptochocracy is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ptochocracy until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:39, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
