Chess diagrams & PGNs edit

Saw your note on my talk page, I'm not used to wikipedia yet so I have no idea how to reply, sorry if answering here does not follow the standard practice. About your comments on the SVG pieces, it makes a substantial difference between the chess diagram and the game text notation. In the chess diagram any image format can be used of course, my extension uses PNG at the moment but it could be changed to the SVG of your choice. For the game text notation, using a chess font rather than images works much better, both aesthetically (at least in my experience) and functionally (for example, my extension uses a chess figurine font, but if you select the game text notation and you copy&paste the content in a text editor you still have a fully readable text with the proper letter replacing automagically the figurine font; this would not happen using SVG images for the piece initials. Regarding your comment about fairy pieces, well, up to you to make your SVG set and font all inclusive of the pieces you need/want; I'm personally interested in chess, hence the support of the standard pieces so far. About the most common sizes for SVG images, for the chess diagram yuo need something that scales down to 20px and up to as large as you can think of. For the chess game notation, the typical font size is 16px but your font or images should scale well down to at least 8px (that might be tricky, one more reason why a font works better). Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello NikNaks93! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 951 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Edit summaries edit

Edit summaries save the rest of us time and trouble. On your recent edit of List of British flags, if you had said something like "file name changed", it would have saved my tracking down what you did and why. So, please, add a few words of explanation to every edit. Thanks Jim - Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 13:47, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for taking this task on. To give you an idea of what semaphore signals look like in real life, have a look at the Bluebell Railway signals webpage. The righthand signal in the top image is a good example of what we are trying to depict, although that signal is to the right of the track, not the left.

The icon you created will need to be redrawn so that the signal post is near the railway line, and the arm pointing to the left. The arm itself is red, with a single white band towards the lefthand end. When I say rotated, I mean rotate clockwise 90° and then rotate clockwise through another 90°. I think we should get the first one correct then worry about rotating, and creating icons for the signal on the right of the track. Mjroots (talk) 18:23, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's getting there! Needs a top to the signal post (small triangle?) and the arm needs to be reduced in length. Suggest that if you take the distance of the outer red bit, and make the arm 4x that length, then reduce the white band by 50% by recolouring the half nearest the signal post, it'll be pretty much there. From left to right the arm will then be 25% red, 12½% white, 62½% red in width. Mjroots (talk) 11:56, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Having introduced the icon into a diagram, the size of the signal is going to need to be increased. What I'm aiming for is a display something like that in the part diagram from Chettisham signal box, although ours will be in the vertical plane rather than the horizontal. Mjroots (talk) 12:05, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The third alternative is a bit better. Try thinning the signal arm, and separating the post from the track. It may be we'll need to split the signal over two icons (base and top), but if we can get it all on one icon that will be much better. Mjroots (talk) 13:25, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've not forgotten abou this. Could you e-mail me as I have a few small images which will show better what I'm trying to achieve. It may be that we have to create a base and top to get the desired effect. Mjroots (talk) 15:42, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

Thank you very much for signing up for the July Backlog Elimination Drive! The copyedit backlog stretches back two and a half years, all the way back to the beginning of 2008! We're really going to need all the help we can muster to get it down to a manageable number. We've ambitiously set a goal of clearing all of 2008 from the backlog this month. In order to do that, we're going to need more participants. Is there anyone that you can invite or ask to participate with you? If so, we're offering an award to the person who brings in the most referrals. Just notify ɳorɑfʈ Talk! or Diannaa TALK of who your referrals are. Once again, thanks for your support! GOCE Newsletter edit

GOCE July 2010 backlog elimination drive chart

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! We have now passed the halfway point, so here's an update.

Progress Report - Progress toward the targets has been good. 751 articles out of the approximately 1,600 we would like to get completed by the end of the month were done by July 15, so we will be very close to meeting the target for volume. However, we would like to clear all of the 2008 articles from the backlog, and there are still 892 left to do. Please consider choosing one of these older articles when looking for something to copy edit. If we focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue.

Participation Report - 95 people signed up for the July drive. This is a great result compared to May, when we had 36. However, in May only one person that signed up didn't do any copy edits, and in July only 59 of the 95 have posted any copy edits on the big board.

The task may seem insurmountable but please remember that if all 95 participants copy edit just one article a day from now until the end of the month, we will eliminate 1,300 more articles from the backlog. So please consider participating at whatever level you can! All contributions are appreciated.

This newsletter was prepared for the GOCE by Diannaa (Talk), S Masters (talk), and The Raptor Let's talk.

GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up edit

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the May 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, your word totals are cumulative for barnstars (not the leaderboard). Over the course of the next week or two, we will be handing out the barnstars.

Flags of Commisioners of Canadian Territories edit

File:Flag of the Commisioner of Northwest Territories.svg
File:Flag of the Commisioner of Yukon.svg

Is there any particular reason you decided to tag the images non-free? For the Yukon, it is clear the majority of the artwork came from the free file File:Coat of arms of Yukon.svg. Everything else is standard heraldry for Canada and is below the threashold of orginality to be copyrighted. Would you consider changing the license to {PD-self}} and linking File:Coat of arms of Yukon.svg as a source? Also if the artwork for File:Flag of the Commisioner of Northwest Territories.svg came from File:Coat of arms of Northwest Territories.svg, the same would apply and I would be happy to start an undeletion request.--Svgalbertian (talk) 14:29, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

GOCE drive invitation edit

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors

The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting.

This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.

We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words".

Ownership of Parliament diagrams edit

Hi, In May of last year, I worked on and uploaded to the commons several diagrams of the UK Parliament. I was recently reading the article on the House of Commons for some research and couldn't help but notice that my diagram is still there, albeit with a key added, however when I clicked on it to see who added it (you), I noticed that no reference was made to me being the original author. I have no issue with you altering these diagrams, indeed it improves it, but I would very much like it if you could give mention to me being the original author of the diagram.

I am referring to the original file at the following URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Parliament2010UK.svg and your version at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UK_Commons_Current_Composition.svg

I will post this on WikiPedia and the Wiki Commons

Thank you,

Graphics Lab edit

Currently there is a photograph which awaits conversion from jpg to svg format. Its been several days and no response has come. I was wondering whether you could carry out the conversion. Here is the link for the photo's section in the Graphics Lab page. In case you are unable to do this, could you point out anyone who will be able to do so? Thanks. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 10:17, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

A little help edit

Hey help me out a bit here. I recently uploaded File:FlagOfYorkshire.svg. But the preview has many things missing which can be seen in the full sized image. I am having the same problem with File:County Flag of North Yorkshire.svg also. Is there a problem with the file or the renderer?? Thanks Roshan220195 (talk) 12:35, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hm, that's very odd. Are you talking about the blurring of the edges between dark and light parts of the petals? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the central yellow circle also disappears on the raw SVG. I suspect that it is due to the effects you've used in Inkscape (if you're using that), that work in most renderers, but not in MediaWiki. Have you used the normal blur, for instance, or a different effect? NikNaks talk - gallery 12:51, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Pardon me but i am a beginner at this(that includes using inkscape). I have used the blur option that is available in 'fill and stroke'. Actually, the central yellow circle is visible but the shading in some petals is missing. This is a screenshot of what i can see: File:Screenshot 1234.png. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roshan220195 (talkcontribs) 14:45, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ah, yes, I can see. I think the circle disappearing must be an issue with Chrome. As far as I was aware, blur was supported by MediaWiki, but apparently not. I think we'll just have to accept that it doesn't work! The alternative is to use a radial gradient to create the same effect, which is definitely supported. As for the petals, I can fix those if I have more time. I'm not sure what's causing the issue exactly. NikNaks talk - gallery 15:09, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok. Thanks anyway. 117.193.33.95 (talk) 07:10, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

WP:GL edit

Should I just delete the existing files tagged as non-free currently here? I uploaded them all to Commons as they all seem to be simple text/shape logos. CMAH (Connormah's Sock) 22:05, 4 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm slightly concerned that some logos that have been considered non-free here are being uploaded to Commons as PD-Text, but I am far from an expert. As for deleting the files here, if they're no longer used, I think it's policy to remove fair use files, so I would go ahead. NikNaks talk - gallery 06:42, 5 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yet another electron shell request edit

Could you please correct lawrencium to 2,8,18,32,32,8,3? Thanks. Double sharp (talk) 11:31, 9 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Done! I'm always happy to do these as I've written a bit of javascript to generate the angles for any number of electrons. NikNaks talk - gallery 14:48, 9 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
In that case, could you please make images for the ones beyond Uuo with articles? None of these have images yet. They need 8 (or, for the last one, 9) electron shells, and can have as many as 50 in one shell. They're all predictions, though, but so is everything beyond Rf. In brackets I give the colour the ball in the centre should have.
  1. Ununennium: 2,8,18,32,32,18,8,1 (#d8bcbc)
  2. Unbinilium: 2,8,18,32,32,18,8,2 (#ffecd3)

  8. Unsepttrium: 2,8,18,32,50,35,18,8,2 (#c6dd9d)
Thanks in advance, Double sharp (talk) 08:34, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
May I suggest these format changes: 1. Use font Sans (or DejaVu Sans), not Times New Roman (no serifs, no unfree font in general). 2. Reduce the padding (inside "margin", to say 2px) for these top texts, so that the topline can use a bit more height & width (symbol text should be central of course). 3. If there is space (as expected), make the toprow font larger. Good for readibility when the image is shown not-too-big (150px we are using). When these improvements work, they could be done for the existing ones too. -DePiep (talk) 11:10, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I can certainly do these. However, I'm not sure why these should have a different format to the other ones. As far as I can see, the font chosen in the current files is "Arial", not Times, and I have no particular interest in changing so many files. NikNaks talk - gallery 13:23, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
The reasons for the format change I wrote. Currently, these images are to be used in 150px width (see sandbox: {{lead}}). At that size, every pixel counts for readibility. So I proposed a bigger font. About font type: whatever the entered font in this, what counts is the ultimate show image, on a page. I see a different font (example: File:Electron_shell_038_Strontium.svg shows a different (serif even) font with me). Serif letters makes the text less readible in this situation. About Arial: Wikipedia:SVG Help says: Fonts such as Arial and Times New Roman require licencing fees to distribute, and so are not used by Mediawiki internally. So Mediawiki picks another font for the show (curious that in the Strontium example a serif font was used btw). -DePiep (talk) 14:10, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Could you put this on hold for a moment? I have a question about the colors, Double Sharp. See the talk at WP:ELEM. -DePiep (talk) 13:44, 14 July 2012 (UTC) done -DePiep (talk) 16:12, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oops. Fixed. Double sharp (talk) 16:00, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
NikNaks, maybe I invoked too many details, let's skip them. I suggest you proceed as you think best and are happy to do. When they are ready they will show nicely or I will adjust the template. -DePiep (talk) 09:22, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
No, no, I will get to these in due course, but I see no point in starting to then go back and edit them!  :) Would it be out of turn to propose something on the Elements talk page? NikNaks talk - gallery 18:24, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I didn't even want to hurry you. Yesterday was fine, tomorrow is fine. Have a nice edit. (Any afterward change to them, would be ~125 then, is next step -- on top of these eight. Rome was not built in a day). -DePiep (talk) 22:22, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Second thought, good point by you. Well, this is my idea.
First, you make these eight in the existing form: with label, names in the same pattern. This way we have the complete set in a single form: commons:electron shell. (An incomplete set is not convenient, anytime anywhere anyperson). All editors, in other languages too, can rely on this one. The current {{infobox ununennium}} already checks for File:Electron shell 119 Ununennium.svg by composing this name, so when it is uploaded it will appear. All fine I'd say, nothing broken.
Afterwards, we can discuss to create all of them into a nolabel variant set, the label text stripped (copy-&-edit or create from zero). That set will be complete too, and with different (systematic) names. Maybe you like to do that, or we can look for a GL bot. When this set is made and uploaded, we'll change the template to use these, since they are better suited (for this template). Note that this does not edit your eight additions, but copy-then-edits them. -DePiep (talk) 08:37, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that sounds much more workable! I will post my proposal for the new diagram at some point. Apologies for not replying sooner; I have full-time work experience and it's eating up more of my time than I'd anticipated! NikNaks talk - gallery 17:34, 19 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Chess pieces edit

Any chance of getting the full Alfaerie graphic set (redrawn?) up? ^_^ It would certainly make it a lot easier to create articles on chess variants... Double sharp (talk) 13:57, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would be delighted to, so long as you're willing to assist in placing them in sensible letters and moving others around if needs be, as I have done with the ship and the elephant. If you could list the ones that are most useful and give them letters here then I will make them and add them (although not in red, green and yellow for the time being).
Incidentally, do you have any suggestions on the best places to put the inverted king or pawn? I have found a piece called a "Berolina pawn" which used the inverted image, so perhaps capital B? For king I have no ideas. NikNaks talk - gallery 14:35, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Inverted king is used for the anti-king.
Might be hard to get the entire Alfaerie set up, as there are more letters than piece shapes. Can you use letter pairs as well as single letters? Double sharp (talk) 13:04, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Posted on User:NikNaks/Chess. Huge list, I'm afraid, but we won't really need anything else too badly. Double sharp (talk) 13:40, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
It certainly seems possible to use double letter schemes as well, so that seems good. I will reply to some of your suggestions my subpage and strike out ones that are already available. NikNaks talk - gallery 14:07, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Bhavini logo.svg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Bhavini logo.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:05, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

SVG edit

Hi NikNaks. I'm a Wikipedian from sr.wp and currently I'm working on something for my school (A0 conference poster) and I need to convert an image from PNG to SVG format. I have tried to do it with Inkscape but I have no experience with that program at all and the results are not so good. So maybe you can help me? I would be very grateful to you :) It's just a simple logo consisting of letters. Thanks in advance. micki 07:08, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sure! If you post a link to the image here then I can do it for you, or if you'd prefer, I could just give you some tips on how to fix a file you've tried yourself. Whichever is easier. NikNaks talk - gallery 11:15, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I didn't upload file here because it's possibly copyrighted, although I can always get the permission from the school. Here you can see the logo in question. Any help would be nice :) As you can see, it's a small PNG file and I need much larger image for a A0 poster. micki 11:53, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
If you know what the font that's there is, then that would make the job very easy, but I assume you don't? If you can find out and get permission, I could do it in about ten minutes. Without the font, I'd have to guess and attempt to find something similar or just manually hand trace it, and that won't be as accurate. NikNaks talk - gallery 12:20, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, I don't know which font it is. I believe it's Arial but I'm not sure. I cannot get the permission before Monday, but maybe you can try to make SVG file and post it on postimg.org as I need the logo to finish the poster. And next week I'll upload it on Commons after I get the permission. There is a possibility that the logo is not copyrighted as it consists of simple geometric shapes and/or text and it does not meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection. micki 12:34, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Well, I had a crack at it, and you're right that the bottom font seems to be Arial (except for the R, which is more like Helvetica for some reason) but the top font eludes me. I tried to improvise by editing some letters from Futura, and I think it turned out okay. Let me know if it's suitable. The file is here: [2] NikNaks talk - gallery 13:20, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wow, it's wonderful :) Thank you so so so much. As I already said, I tried to do something like this but I failed. Thanks again :) micki 13:28, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure I've done my counting correctly, but I've ended up with 33 minority third front party seats, which seems like a lot. Could you double-check the numbers for the minority parties and see if there are any that aren't listed under one of the headings that should be? NikNaks talk - gallery 23:41, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
My appreciations for the quick reply and creation of the graphic. I think you are right - my counting gives the same number. It does seem like a lot, but in proportion of 545 seats, it's only 6% of the total seats. Regards --RaviC (talk) 08:54, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Any chances to have those completed, please? edit

Hello! I apologize for bothering, but would you, by a chance, be willing to pick up a few requests I've placed quite a long time on Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Illustration workshop‎? Or do you maybe know someone else willing to do that? It would highly benefit the articles in which those illustrations would be used, and I have one or two more illustrations that could be created. Any help would be appreciated! — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 12:26, 4 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Dsimic: I realise you're keen to have your requests filed, but if I felt that your requests were something I would want to do or be capable of doing adequately, I would not have marked them stale. In my opinion, the Android version chart needs a complete overhaul so that new data can be added manually and consistently; the PCI Express image should be left for Victor to complete so that the style is consistent (whether he will be back or not I don't know), and although I could rip the image directly from the PDF, this would ensure copyright issues; the other two requests are complex and would be time-consuming to do, and as I have little interest in the subject and they wouldn't really improve my ability in any way, they're not really for me. I'm sure it's frustrating seeing later requests getting completed with yours sitting there, but we're all hobbyists. You're welcome to keep updating your requests to prevent them going stale if you want, but I personally won't be completing them, sorry. NikNaks talk - gallery 13:34, 4 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

FYI edit

Have nominated {{Country data Mughal Empire}} for deletion. Informing you given that you created the image that is the subject of discussion. Abecedare (talk) 19:03, 30 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Abecedare: Thanks for the heads up. The image was created at the request of User:Gryffindor in a GL request last year, and it seems he is also the last one to edit this template before me (adding the SVG version). He provided the source for the flag (another digital image) and I simply vectorised it. I have no knowledge of its authenticity, although it has been marked as a fictitious flag at Commons already, as you probably know. He was very adamant about the detail of the flag though, so perhaps he can offer more sources or information as for why it should be kept. I myself have no such information I'm afraid, I'm merely a graphics editor. I will leave it to you to bring him into the discussion if you so choose. NikNaks talk - gallery 19:26, 30 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Give your editing interests I suspected something along those lines, but couldn't figure out the provenance based solely on the template/image file history. Will leave a note for Gryffindor, who well may be just another link in the chain (since their interest too seem to be related to graphics, rather than Mughal history). Thanks for the quick response. Abecedare (talk) 19:43, 30 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

NikNaks is it possible you can alter the image, there is a dispute, the Mughal Flag that you made while wonderful, the problem is the lion is standing, the original Mughal Flag based on the findings in the Mughal Flag talkpage is shown to be couchant. RussianDewey (talk) 23:12, 18 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

@RussianDewey: The image was composed using the pre-existing lion from the square version of the flag. I am not a good enough artist to be able to redraw it lying down, but there are many vector lions on other flags that, if appropriate, could be borrowed from this category. However, that aside, I'm not convinced that there is enough definitive evidence that the lion is couchant in the green field depiction that is represented there. If there are more complex graphical requests that you want to make based on the new sources, you may want to try the graphics lab. NikNaks talk - gallery 00:04, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

The lion is indeed couchant, we have SOLID evidence, the one you based your work on wasn't solid or reliable where the lion was standing, let me show you the evidence:

1)Edward Terry's description and engraving. He calls it the Imperial Standard of the Great Mughals

2)The second evidence is from a book called Exotic Aliens: The Lion and the Cheetah in India which shows the lion couchat on the flag.

3) The third evidence is William Baffin’s 1619 map of the Mughal Empire, if you look at the top right corner of the map you see the lion couchant.

i hope you can work and create one of use, because the one you did was simply beautiful, I never realized it was wrong except after some users remove it. You should use the same outline, except give the sun two eyes and make the lion couchant, I think you choose which lion you want. RussianDewey (talk) 15:10, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm still unconvinced that any of those depictions of lions are intended to be used on a triangular field of small stars, and source for the image that this flag was created from clearly shows the lion passant. Moreover, the third image is not a flag, rather an emblem? And the second one is too unclear for anyone to be able to replicate whatever the background of the design is. Again, I am not a good enough artist to redraw these flags without clear, unambiguous sources that I can either trace or use existing elements to create. I am also 99% sure that even a version of the triangular flag with a couchant lion would be neither uncontroversial nor acceptable for use as the flag of the Mughals. If you would like me to create a version of the triangular flag using one of the lions from this category (that you need to select) then I am happy to make the change, but anything requiring a more complicated redrawing of the flag or a new lion should be taken to the graphics lab. NikNaks talk - gallery 15:38, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

The website you got if from is very un-reliable, since it gives no clue or source on how they got it, even the emblem is a good source, at least we know the Mughals depicted their lion couchant and is well sourced from a guy we know who created the map in early 17th century, at the height of the Mughal Power. Also the issue of the multiple dots apparently is from a late Mughal Period, where a painting depicts Mughal Celevrating Eid with a different flag that has no Lion in it, just the sun and someone did a work on it, your flag is based on the time of Aurangzeb which was the most powerful time of the mguhals, the green flags were darker, but I see no evidence of little dots/stars. I don't know what graphic lab is, I'm kinda new RussianDewey (talk) 01:14, 20 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

If so, try the graphics lab and make it explicit exactly what you want changed to improve them. Saying they are "poor quality" may be true, but doesn't help us to fix them for you. @Kintetsubuffalo: I'm certainly open to requests but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to do them! NikNaks talk - gallery 13:09, 20 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! They are Scouting images in need of improvement, which the Graphics Lab generally doesn't like to take.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:13, 20 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Kintetsubuffalo: Do you have an example? NikNaks talk - gallery 16:24, 20 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
