If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Newton Hewitt & Co/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, Newton Hewitt & Co. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. The page User:Newton Hewitt & Co/sandbox has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

This article needs to be rewritten from scratch from reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not an outlet for promotion, advocacy, or advertising.

Information on content and common pitfalls to avoid can be located here and here, however be aware that this is not an exhaustive list. Pages can sometimes avoid these pitfalls and still be seen as an ad copy or unambiguously promotional, particularly if the editor appears to be a paid editor or has some other conflict of interest. Please review these policies, including the FAQ page on organizations to determine if this applies to you.

Common mistakes or beliefs about promotional editing center on the assumption that promotional editing only applies to promotion for commercial gain. Some tags or G11 nominations are met with confusion by creators, particularly if they spend much time reading or creating corporate documents, mission/vision statements, or similar copy for their organization. The frequent exposure to promotional tone may make it difficult to notice non-neutral phrases or styles, as the editor has grown accustomed to seeing it as everyday writing or speech. This can be difficult, but not impossible, to unlearn.

Another common assumption is that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to businesses or organizations. Anything can be promoted, including a person, a non-commercial organization, a point of view, etc. and CV/resumé's are by their nature promotional.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see this page on citing sources and Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). This page has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{Reflist}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there. New article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can ask for help at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk and on IRC chat Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure is a useful tutorial.

New article creation can be difficult and frustrating. Sometimes it is better to first gain experience by fixing and helping maintain existing articles. Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask contains links to things that badly need doing, if you are so inclined. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 20:00, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 20:01, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

The intention was not to promote this company or services rather add to wikipedia about the company and its existence. What I did was to copy the information I found out and was suppose to start edit the text and information

Decline reason:

Duplicate request. You only need to make one request at a time(you don't need separate requests for your username and the block). 331dot (talk) 09:22, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

This was the first time I ever published an article on Wikipedia. An honest mistake to not cover all words so that it doesnt seem to be promotional because that was and is not the case. The case is as above stated to make the company Newton Hewitt & Co exist for future readings about what they are doing. And for informational purpose to understand more about its history. Newton Hewitt & Co (talk) 17:45, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You have not proposed a new username as instructed; accounts are for individuals, not organizations. You don't need to use your real name, but your username must be individualistic. Wikipedia is not a place for companies to tell about themselves and their own history-that's what your company website and social media are for. Wikipedia is interested in what independent reliable sources with significant coverage choose on their own to say about your company. Please read WP:COI and WP:PAID. As you don't indicate what edits you intend to make that are unrelated to your conflict of interest, there are no grounds to remove the block. 331dot (talk) 09:24, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest.

You also did not propose a new account name, as your current name violates Wikipedia's username policy. Wikipedia accounts are for individuals, not companies, organizations or groups of people. Therefore you must choose a name that reflects individual use, as well give us a guarantee that access to this account is not shared with others.

If you are employed by this company, you will be required to disclose as a paid editor. Please note that admins are unlikely to unblock your account if your only intention is to write about your company. They will want to see that you have an interest to first edit other topic areas unrelated to your company. The reason is for you to build up a constructive edit history and gain an understanding of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In time, you may be allowed to create a draft article for review by neutral editors.

If you are not employed by this company, or not contracted to be its representative, then please make this clear. Whenever Wikipedia editors see promotional editing, it is important that we know if the person behind it has any affiliation with the subject, or not. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 18:44, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
