Ondangwa Town

Ondangwa is a town of 11000 inhibitants in the Oshana Region of Northern Namibia,border Oshikoto Region. Ondangwa is one of the Kingdom of Ovamboland,located about 80km from the Angola border. Ondangwa is the distict capital of the Ondangwa electolar Constituency. During the Namibian war of indipendence, Ondangwa was a major theater of fighting between the rebel movement South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO) and the South African Defence Force (SADF).

Ondangwa featers a shopping cetner, a large open market, and several tourism facilities. Many local authorities for the Oshana and Oshikoto Region are placed in the town, e.g the Ministry of Education and Police. There are several schools in the town, among them Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Senior Secondary School. Since indipendence, the government has settled up an industry in Ondangwa, to create jobs and imput the poor infrastracture such as Rossing Foundation,Kayec,and Cosdec.[1]
