Notations 21 Project

You deleted "Notations 21 Project". I know there are many pages in WP that refer, for example, to individuals who are not particularly famous historically. However, Notations 21 Project IS significant, because it is reviving an effort by John Cage (very famous in the world of music) to promote new ways of communication between people in many cultures. These new musical scores are artwork, the music is created from a fusion of the concept of the composer plus the experiences of the performer or performers, and individuals share their various ways of expressing. This new direction provides the seeds of what may be a new "classical" music, or perhaps the equivalent of a next "New Age" music phenomenon, while including the best aspects of world music. If you have a suggestion on how to convey this so it does not seem to focus excessively on "promotion", I am open to it. If the issue is simply that Notations 21 Project is not known well, or that it is new, perhaps there are other ways to show its significance. I am open to suggestions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opalcomp (talkcontribs) 14:59, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • First, the article needs to be written in a more neutral fashion (for example, presenting the "Mission" section so prominently, in bullet points, makes it seem like the article is the official site for the project rather than a neutral report about it). Second, the article needs to cite reliable independent sources, see WP:V, to show that the project has been recognized as notable by third parties, see WP:N. I suggest that you work on a draft in your userspace, at User:Opalcomp/Notations 21 Project, and let me know when you think it meets these guidelines. Hi there, unless you speak Estonian I think deleting that article was a bist hasty. From what I got by a quick look and Google translation this guy seems to be an Estonian skiing person of some importance. And speaking for WP:PNT I think such pages should be assessed by people who speak the language before they are properly nominated for deletion. That said, please undelete that page so I can list it for translation. De728631 (talk) 21:02, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

    • Ok, in that case you can as well delete it again. I don't have any ambitions about this article, just thought it was a bit strange to see it deleted so quickly. Never mind. I'm going to drop the author a note though about writing non-English articles over here. De728631 (talk) 21:17, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wellness Layers

You deleted my article about Wellness Layers. It was written objectively and used plenty of outside sources as well as the company's actual website. The article simply lists the company history and basic approach, which is a format I followed after looking at other company pages throughout Wikipedia. I don't think it was promotional at all, and I would like to have you consider undeleting my page. OZak29 (talk) 23:29, 4 November 2011 (UTC)OZak29Reply

Spier Wine Farm

Our article on the Spier Wine Farm was deleted because the web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable. The farm buildings contain an architectural element, namely the Cape Dutch Gables that are a unique architectural style found in the Western Cape. The farm buildings contain, in total, 21 gables, more than any other farm in the region. This is a noted historical and architectural feature and would be of interest to anyone interested in the history of the farm, or architecture of the Western Cape. Please can you provide some guidance as to why the article was deleted, or how to make the article more notable?

USBGroup4 (talk) 13:38, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • You would need to cite reliable independent sources (see WP:V) to establish that this, or other factors, make this farm notable per WP:CORP. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:12, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tony Burgess

I noticed you deleted an article I was looking at earlier tonight. The article was on the author Tony Burgess who wrote the novel Pontypool Changes Everything and several other books. The article may have had problems, I had not read it yet, I was planning on coming back to it later but now it is gone. However your listed reason for deletion: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content) seems odd to me. I am not knowledgeable about Mr. Burgess, that was why I was looking for his Wikipedia page after watching his screen adaptation of the novel Pontypool. but from what I gather from a Google search he is fairly widely known and the movie won some pretty impressive awards. If there was something really wrong with the article then I understand but if not I would like to see it undeleted, I am having trouble finding out much about this author elsewhere. Sorry if this is the wrong place I have only made one prior edit to Wikipedia so I am new to this. Mrthemuck (talk) 04:56, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • You are right - I've reinstated the article. It would be great if you could add some sources to it. NawlinWiki (talk) 05:17, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Arbortext

Hi. I recently spent some time to re-add the Arbortext page. Some comments from other Wikipedia-ians in the past were that it didn't have enough references. So, I re-published some content, and then instantly sought feedback from our user community. Is it possible to give it a bit of time to let other users - users NOT at the parent company of PTC (my employer) to add some comments, references, etc., thus giving this page some depth (since that was one of the criticisms)? I put the page up on Friday November 4, and it's been re-directed already to the parent site (PTC). This prevents anyone from adding any comments, links, references, pictures, etc. Thanks. Looking forward to some guidance/co-operation. Abelniak (talk) 14:47, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • The article as you wrote it was mostly advertising for Arbortext and its products, which was the reason the article was previously deleted. You also shouldn't be creating the article if you work for PTC, see WP:COI. If other users want to write a neutral, independently sourced article on Arbortext, they can do so by editing the redirect themselves. NawlinWiki (talk) 14:49, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

User:Iamdabomb1

Aside from a couple of user boxes, this new account's contributions consist almost entirely of vandalism (creating articles and files on a fantasy country, vandaliizing a redirect). Do you think this qualifies as a vandalism-only account? ScottyBerg (talk) 16:08, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tabikap

The page Tabikap was speedily deleted for G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.sotscm.org/ when it clearly says in the footer "Re-use is permitted under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC-BY-SA), version 3.0" and I contested it stating such. According to the pages that were linked when the notice of deletion was put on the page that seemed like enough. Why was my appeal ignored? Psa3rvb (talk) 21:10, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Excuse me for barging in, but maybe I can help? You're right, it is released under CC-BY-SA 3.0. Did you properly attribute the material required by the license? I searched both the article and the talk page and could not find the proper attribution. Even if you had, there were other problems. The article didn't make any claim of worldly, historical significance. Why is the subject important to an encyclopedia? It also was overly promotional. All three of these issues (copyright, significance, and promotional) are reasons for a quick deletion. See WP:CSD.--v/r - TP 21:36, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the deletion of Músíktilraunir

The sentence was passed before the jury could hear my case and so the article Músíktilraunir was deleted. I don't know where the discussion about the proposed deletion took place and so I can't comment on the arguments in favour of deletion but the following was left as an explanation for the action taken: A7. No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content).

Here are a few reasons why I think the subject of the article is noteworthy:

  • This annual music contest is the biggest national event of its kind in Iceland and sponsors and collaborators include Icelandair, Rás 2 (on behalf of RÚV), Hitt Húsið (an information and culture centre) and many others.
  • The contest is broadcast on national television and radio as well and the stakes are high since there are many awards for the top 3 bands and then the best bassists, drummers etc also gets awarded. Awards usually consist of studio time with known professionals, money, musical equipment, gift certificates, promotion etc.
  • The contest has been a lunching pad for many nationally and internationally known artists and bands.

Of course the article wasn't "finished", it had just been created by me and so obviously the content didn't meet the standards of GAs nor FAs but I think that it was a bit extreme to delete it in its infancy and so I urge you to revive it. The competition is as noteworthy to Iceland as the terribly boring show "American Idol" is to the US, well actually the Icelandic Idol was more popular here but that's just because of the nature of the show - I'm just trying to make a point.

Cheers, Stefán Örvarr Sigmundsson (talk) 04:01, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hall Green United

It would appear that my article on Hall Green United has been deleted, for the 2nd time in 2 days. It was deleted yesterday on copyright infringements by Olyella21 who cited copyright infringements as the main issue. I was given the impression I could re-instate this page, if I was to use my own words and sentences. Something which I have spent time and effort doing today. So I'm surprised it has been deleted yet again because I haven't stated it's notability. I'm getting more confused with how I get this page up and running, so would appreciate as much assistance as you could give me. The page is obviously about an amateur football club in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK. I'm wanting to bring the article up to a similar standard of other football clubs. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobbybarks (talkcontribs) 20:11, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

The owner of the GulliC is running the brand on her own without any support. From designer’s work to the sales and marketing she is doing it alone. The economic scenario of the country and the especially the law and order situation of the country has made it impossible for a normal human to start a business. In a very short span of time she showed a remarkable growth and in a very short span of time she became the inspiration in her social circle and the institute in which she was studying. The institute was compelled to support her due to the remarkable performance of the girl in studies and the business in such a young age. The institute is one of the best institutes of the country and she is the first student who showed such excellent entrepreneurial activities. Some market gurus has reviewed her work and appreciated it. Now she will be on the TV channels soon as the negotiations are going on with few famous TV channels of the country. With approx. no resources in the start she managed to show such a performance that now her family is proud of her and now supporting her. She is offering jobs to the undergrad’s students and specially girls so that she can made some good living as well as it is very difficult for a women to work in Pakistan due to social barriers. In such a young age she felt the social responsibility as now she is the inspiration for many girls and as common women any girl can relate with her. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jhk112345 (talkcontribs) 11:10, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Being a non-winning contestant on a reality show doesn't equal notability per our standards, see WP:BIO. I didn't see any other verifiable assertion of notability. The claim of being in a major movie doesn't match with the artist's IMDB listing (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3862073/), which shows only 2 small parts and also indicates that "Karim Kamel" is not even his preferred name. Also, the article was full of advertising ("Here's the link for the website for his fans to listen to his music!"), see WP:SPAM. NawlinWiki (talk) 00:38, 13 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I remember you being one of those administrators that always deleted these random film articles that were created by Lyle123 and his sock puppets. Well, I am Lyle123 and I really want to apologise for that. This time, I mean it. I admit that those film articles I made were just nonsense and complete hoaxes. You don't have to unblock my Lyle123 account if you don't want to. Why don't you delete all the sock puppet edits at Great power, too?

  • Because that sockmaster doesn't have the multi-year history of repellent personal insults, email abuse, and sock recruitment that you do. To put it simply: You don't get to edit anything here, or have any of your edits remain in any article history. It's not because of the topics - it's because it's you. Judge the content, not the contributor.

Dubh Linn (the Black Pool)

You recently deleted the page "Dubh Linn (the Black Pool)." It was not a duplication of the History of Dublin; it was a more involved look at the pool the Vikings protected. Everything in the History of Dublin, and all other Dublin pages for that matter, do not address "the Black Pool" as anything more than a location, and comment about how Dubh Linn means Black Pool in Irish. There is much more to this place; it holds crucial cultural significance. I was doing this page for a class project for a Celtic-Scandinavian course at my university. Let me assure you, it should be reinstated. Sincerely, BadgerRugger — Preceding unsigned comment added by BadgerRugger (talkcontribs) 05:25, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Metarelic

--Metarelic--

Could you please give me some more specific pointers as to why this article is deemed deletable? I would like to know why you think that article is self advertising/promotion? It is a neutral article about an artwork, in a gallery. I see other articles about other certain artworks, which are far less informative. The piece of art is currently being written about in art magazines, which I will be adding as references shortly. The whole point of this artwork is that is references it's self on the internet. It does this through two different outlets: one is a self titled webpage, the other is wikipedia. Does this change that it is an article written objectively about an artwork, which does in fact exist and is of interest to people? I would be grateful for any help--XavierPoultney (talk) 19:46, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Sorry, but that kind of bootstrapping - "the point of my artwork is that it's referenced on Wikipedia" - doesn't make it notable per our guidelines, which require it to have been acknowledged as notable (see WP:N) by reliable independent sources (see WP:V). Also, since you are the artist, you should not be writing the Wikipedia article about your work, see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:38, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • The article reads like an advertisement or promotional brochure for the project, see WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. Any article about the project needs to be based entirely on what independent, neutral sources have said about it, see WP:V, and should show that the project meets the notability standards of WP:ORG. I reconstructed the article and added a lot of independent sources. However I am not quite sure about the way the rules and regulations are applied on Wikipedia. Since IMP³rove is a non-commercial project, I compared it e.g. to the article about the Smithsonian Institution. They used as well their own website and publications as references and linked the part about the "research centers and programs" to external company links. Therefore I will upload the revised version of the IMP³rove article and hope that it won't be deleted again, since I think that it matches all the required standards now!
