Hello, NW939732, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Edits Reverted for Lonzo Ball

edit

Hi there! My name is Brianda. I work with Wiki Education to help students with their Wikipedia Assignments. It's great that you have started editing Wikipedia, but please be mindful of the edits you make on existing articles, especially those that are rated Good Article, which means that it is among Wikipedia's best work. I recommend going back to the Student Training Modules especially evaluating articles and sources to get a refresher on evaluating articles and examples of reliable sources. Any questions, feel free to reach out. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:21, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wait to edit FA or GA articles until you've fully completed your training and maybe in our last weeks of class. Thanks! Love your energy. sheridanford (talk) 06:14, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

R&B

edit

I see you're a student. I reverted you here [1] for a few reasons. "in the year of the 1940s" is not correct, 1940s is a decade (ten years), not a year. "In the 1960s, the a rhythm and blues is known for a stronger vocal style through the lyrical secular" needs some proofreading. And the source is talking specifically about soul, not R&B in general. The biggest problem though is that the lead should summarize the article. See WP:LEAD. Ideally there would be no source citations in the lead, because everything in the lead is already cited elsewhere. So the material you added belongs somewhere else, maybe in the "1960s–1970s" section. After you put it there, you can summarize it for the lead. GA-RT-22 (talk) 17:53, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

..."in a abusive relationship"? Too many "had"s, I think. Adakiko (talk) 04:16, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Janet Jackson, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Blocked from mainspace

edit

Hi NW939732. I have blocked you from editing in Wikipedia's mainspace because you've been making poor-quality edits to Wikipedia for over a week, and you have ignored all the community members who have left you messages here. This is not acceptable behaviour. Wikipedia is a collaboratively-edited project. You need to treat other editors with respect and respond to their messages.

This is only a partial block, so you will still be able to do your assignment. You will need to assign yourself an article as outlined in this training module. Then you'll see the link under the My Articles section here. Note that you have to be logged into the Dashboard to see this section. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:29, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

February 2023

Hello, I'm DB1729. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Missy Elliott—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. DB1729talk 19:47, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
