Brendan Kangongolo Simbwaye was born in 1934 at Ndangamwa Lukozi village near Malindi, situated in the eastern part of the Caprivi Region.

He started his grade 1 up to grade 4 at Schuckmansburg primary School; He completed his School in May 1955 at the Holly Familly Mission at Katima Mulilo, he preceded his education at Lukulu Teacher Training College in Zambia, where he completed a two years teaching course in May 1957[1]. He started teaching at the Holly family Mission School in August 1957 and he was accountable for standard 4 [grade6] .He was a superintended of the school hostel[2].He was the founder of the caprivi African National, CANU in short later to become Swapo vice president[3]. He resigned from teaching in 1963 and drove his all effort on terminating South Africa’s hold of the Eastern Caprivi Zipfel. He was married and his wife Mrs Gertrude Namatama –Simbwaye, A trained nurse, is currently living in katima Mulilo‘s Ngweze township.

Death of simbwaye edit

He was arrested in 1964 with other, Alfred Tongo Nalishuwa and Vernet Maswahu .He was isolated from other as he was regarded as a political agitator and He disappeared in 1972.After his death Mishake Muyongo took over as president of CANU.
