Welcome!

Hello, MurrayatFTPI, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited was Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute, University of Minnesota, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Andrey V. Chubukov

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Andrey V. Chubukov, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Andrey V Chubukov. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:54, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Andrey V Chubukov

edit

Hello MurrayatFTPI,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Andrey V Chubukov for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. One life to live (talk) 19:36, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Andrey V. Chubukov (Not a deletion thing!)

edit

Hi Murray, actually I'm just wanting to confirm which version of the article is the proper one. Right now we have:
Andrey V. Chubukov and
Andrey V Chubukov, without the period after the V.

The Manual of style suggests that the period should be there, unless his entire middle name is V (as in, not an abbreviation) or if he is commonly referred to without the period. If you can let me know which one is correct, I'll get it all sorted from the naming side. Thanks for your work, CrowCaw 23:54, 5 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Crow, yes, it should be "V." not "V". I tried to edit it after I created the original page which was Andrey V Chubukov. I would like to delete this page and only have Andrey V. Chubukov. I would appreciate any help you could provide to make that happen. Thank you for your help. user:MurrayatFTPI 13:33, 6 March 2015

  • Done! The V version now points to the V. version, so users searching for either will find the right one. If you'd prefer to delete the V version entirely, just edit that page, and replace the "Redirect" line with {{db-g7}} and make the edit summary say something like "Request deletion of mis-spelled name". There's no harm in leaving the redirect there; we commonly use those to catch possible typos when people search. CrowCaw 23:08, 6 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
