Would you mind if I edit the draft and/or move it to the mainspace? I found a source which talks about New York ARTCC in detail: how it was once at JFK (Idewild) Hangar 11 before being moved to a new area. Please feel free to look through the GBooks pages.

  • McCartin, Joseph A. Collision Course: Ronald Reagan, the Air Traffic Controllers, and the Strike that Changed America. Oxford University Press, October 6, 2011. ISBN 019991205X, 9780199912056.

Pages:

  • PT24 (states that NY ARTCC was in Idlewild Hangar 11, and was expanded w other facilities as a result of a midair collision)
  • PT25 (generalities about the training of ATC controllers of the era although it states NY ARTCC had its own style due to the type of traffic it got, as did each other center)
  • PT26 (specifically talks about NY ARTCC being moved to Bohemia, New York as part of an FAA move to relocate ARTCCs to avoid having them disabled by nuclear attacks that would affect densely populated cities)
  • PT27 talks about the lifestyles of the employees of that specific center (discussing Long Island suburbs))

No idea what this is about or why I should be interested in it, sorry. Sandstein 19:34, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Sandstein:: It's related to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New York Air Route Traffic Control Center WhisperToMe (talk) 19:44, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK. The draft article still has no references, so moving to mainspace is a no from me. As to editing, go ahead, I don't own the text.... Sandstein 19:58, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good to me! I was thinking "add refs and then move" but it might help to wait and see what the sandbox owner thinks. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:01, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
All of that looks like just passing mentions to me. I don't see how this meets WP:NORG any better than it did when I nominated it for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New York Air Route Traffic Control Center. -- RoySmith (talk) 19:41, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
In regards to what a passing mention would be: Wikipedia:Notability#General_notability_guideline states "Martin Walker's statement [...] is plainly a trivial mention of that band." as an example. I think this may have gotten beyond trivial mentions when it mentioned the lifestyles of the particular ATC controllers in regards to specific New York suburbs, and passages like "The midnight shift in Hangar 11[...]began to push back against the rules they hated." seem to be addressing this in detail. Note that Hangar 11 here is a reference to New York ARTCC as that hangar housed it at one point. Anyone, though may feel free to comment. WhisperToMe (talk) 19:44, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
And I came across passages which describe the types of residential communities favored by early 1960s NYARTCC employees, mentioning specific places in Long Island. I do not believe this is a trivial mention. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:25, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
What draft are you talking about? Please link to it. Anyone can create or edit drafts, there is no problem with that. As a previously deleted article, you would be wise to submit it to the articles for creation process rather than move it to mainspace yourself. If you do that, make sure you state that this is a recreated article so the reviewer will look at it from that perspective. If you need the old article to start from, ask the deleting admin (Sandstein) to draftify it for you. SpinningSpark 20:02, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Spinningspark: The draft is at User:Moralis/sandbox and I am editing it at the moment. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:25, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment: The preceding source seems to discuss the ARTCC in regards to the 1960 New York mid-air collision (hence the mentions of the victims in the text). It seems like researching this collision may bring out sources that discuss this ARTCC in detail WhisperToMe (talk) 21:33, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
