Petroleum Warfare Department
Thank you for assessing my Petroleum Warfare Department article. The reason specified for not being B-class was "Referencing and citation: criterion not met". I would like to improve the article, which already has over 200 in-line citations, so I am wondering if there is any particular area you felt needed more references. - Gaius Cornelius, this is a pretty good article so far it just needs the citation needed tags cleaned up. In order for an article to be considered a true B-Class it will need at least one citation at the end of every paragraph. - I fully apologize for I missed the citation that was clearly at the bottom of the haunting section. The article is in remarkably good shape for not being formally review at GA nominations. The only thing I saw lacking in the article itself was the castle was burned and destroyed in 1713 but later attacked in 1746. Was the castle rebuilt? Did the attackers attack a semi destroyed structure? Besides that the only thing I can fuss over is the infobox is a little light. I think the information is there to flesh it out a bit but I can do that myself. Good work so far. Much Ado --Molestash (talk) 14:00, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

French Modèle 1892 revolver : Hello Molestash, you just stolidly reverted my edit
(about the good models of that weapon built by the MAS being very rare in France, and mass cheap products from Eibar being much more common) without any explication. Is it because this is not true in Michigan ? Or because you are the only one allowed to write about french weapons ? Pray tell me, I'll be delighted to know why. T.y. - I reverted the edit because it was not sourced, making it fail the B-Class criteria, and it appeared purely based upon the observations of you; violating WP:NOR. You seem also to have an underlying hatred for Basque industry, common among poorer Spanish and French communities who view the industrial production of the region a threat to their economic well being. If you could get me a reliable source that states there is a Modèle 1892 revolver in the majority of grandfather's trunks or that the metal used to produce the pistols in the Eibar factory is of poor quality I would be happy to include it. According to my sources this rather average revolver has decent manufacturing associated with it.--Molestash (talk) 18:57, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
Type 94 Nambu pistol
Thank you for your attempt to engage with me on this issue after-the-fact, but I frankly wish you had discussed first instead of reverting to your preferred version, especially since you reverted legitimate cited content. The onus in this situation is on YOU to discuss the validity of the sources, not ME to prove to you why they should stay.
1) Two of the references were accurately quoted book sources by established authors. Removing them outright is, as I stated, not okay. I have a feeling you didn't like how these two authors spoke so unkindly about the Type 94, a weapon you respect and like for some reason, but the quotes were legitimate and should have stood. Please don't do that again.
2) The blog sources are marginal, I agree, but were added (without any quotations) to establish the overwhelming consensus among gun historians that the Type 94 was indeed one of the worst pistols ever manufactured. I will gladly scrap them and replace them with two more book sources that say exactly the same thing, of the rough dozen I've got laying around here. When I say "overwhelming consensus", I mean precisely that. I work in the historical firearms industry and I have never met an expert who had a single positive thing to say about the Type 94; in fact, the sole positive mention I have EVER seen was by Hogg, who stated it was liked by tank and aircraft crews (who were far less likely than an Army officer to ever actually fire the pistol) because it was small. That's it.
3) Your statement: "The accuracy of the pistol.=, although poor compared to other weapons, is subjective to the user, with many western shooters unable to properly hold or fire the weapon as it was made for people with smaller hands." Response: [citation needed]. The onus is on you to provide a source stating that, not ME to avoid posting sources that contradict it.
4) Your statement: "The Nambu round itself is not particularly underpowered when compared to round made during the time period and should not be addressed as such in the article."
Response: Massive, giant, HUGE [citation needed]. BOTH of the legitimate book sources you deleted stated that the pistol fired an underpowered round compared to the other combat handguns of the period, such as the 9mm Parabellum, the .45 ACP and even the 7.62x25mm Tokarev. Every other source I've read says the same thing. It's one of the major industry criticisms of the pistol, in fact. Your opinion, to be blunt, holds little weight vs. that.
5) Your statement: "You also to appear to have cited info not in the reference material which you should try to avoid doing." Response: I agree, and I apologize. I wish you had simply removed those parts you found objectionable, or perhaps discussed the matter with me. I will carefully go over my content and take extra-special pains to source correctly, and will hang an inline citation with the actual quote included on every single line to avoid further issues with this. The content will still explain the Type 94's ghastly reputation, but it will be inline cited.
I understand you have a deep personal respect and interest in Japanese pistols, but I am going to restore my edit after I replace the blog sources with two more book sources and ensure every line is cited and verifiable. Nothing I said was untrue, and nothing I said cannot be supported by multiple independent scholarly sources. Bravo Foxtrot (talk) 23:04, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
- I apologize for deleting the sourcing in the lead before consulting you and was wrong for the action. I was not trying to be tendentious but did make a tendentious action. I would like to clear this up so the article can pass through the GA process while simultaneously leaving both of us satisfied with the accuracy and completeness of the article. A few points I would like to make and discuss with you.
- 1) I did not fully remove the source from Miller but moved the work from the lead of the article into the body paragraph about the poor sights. The reference is also used in the talk-header about the sights on the pistol itself.
- 2) I have printed copies of Kinard and Millers books with me and I did delete the last sentence about how the "Firearms historians have called the Type 94 "truly dreadful", and "a [nearly] useless weapon, more dangerous to the user than the target" because the sentences are not in the sources themselves.
- 3) I do not have a fancy for the Type 94 and can tell you that the personally I think that the weapon is almost junk. In order to maintain a NPOV however I feel the need to highlight the process for why and how the weapon was made in light that is was made for Japanese soldiers not American or European. The ergonomics for the weapon are off when a 6 foot (1.8 meter) person holds the gun because it was made for someone much smaller.
- 4) I will concede the 8mm Nambu is an inferior round when compared to the pistols in use by the Russian, German, and allied forces. The round did increase the shortcomings of the weapon and although comparable to weapons of WWI they would be outdated for use in WWII. I think it would need it's own section and would like your help with that.
- 5) I do think that accuracy is subjective to the shooter. That being said you are right to include why the pistol is inaccurate if there can be a reason besides my hands are to big to hold the gun correctly.
If you are taking this as a personal insult please don't. I did make a mistake and agree that the majority of items should be replaced with reliable sources. You are right, I do have an interest for Japanese weapons. The fact Japan couldn't field a comparable arsenal to other nation in World War II is phenomenal to me. --Molestash (talk) 23:47, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Orphanage is holding a month long Backlog Elimination Drive to de-orphan articles which have orphan tags!

Assessment of 13(th) Strategic Missile Division
I note that you have recently assessed as B class. I am curious as to how this can be when none of the footnotes in the article is specific. (i.e., all are to works, none to specific pages within the works). --Lineagegeek (talk) 20:28, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- I think that is where the B-Class assessments get a little foggy.
- The criteria says, B1. It is suitably referenced, and all major points have appropriate inline citations.
- All major points in 13th Strategic Missile Division do have a citation to a legitimate source even if they do not point to the exact page of the reference. I am under the impression spotless citations are only necessary for articles going through GA nominations. If I am misinterpreting the criteria I am sorry and thanks for bringing it to my attention. --Molestash (talk) 13:13, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Is the reassessment some kind of joke? Did you read the citations provided and attempt to verify the claims in the article? The reason I asked you all of this is because it appears that you haven't and I expect a very good reason for why the citations in the article aren't acceptable. - In order for an article to pass B1 in the B-Class assessment scale it must be quote, "suitably referenced, and all major points have appropriate inline citations." This esentially means every paragraph must end with a reliable citation. There is no citaiton included in the "hull" section of the article. There is also a citation missing from the Primary and secondary armament sections, the protection section, and the mobility section. The references used in the article are fine with me. Do note I am not trying to insult your work on the article but am trying to provide constructive criticism to help it along. Just insert more citations and it will complement the article nicely. --Molestash (talk) 22:15, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
