Speedy deletion nomination of Jasmine Dawda edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jasmine Dawda requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 17:33, 4 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

A question about infamy edit

I see that in a talk page post you described Jasmine Dawda as "infamous", and yet you didn't mention any negative views of her in the article about her which you created, nor did you mention anything about here which might lead to her being seen in a negative light. I wonder if you could tell me how she is infamous, and also why you didn't mention it in the article. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 17:40, 4 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

July 2017 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Jasmine Dawda, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. my response edit

@JamesBWatson thanks for pointing my attention to that, I actually meant Famous and not infamous, sorry for the mix up and confusion

@Chrissymad thanks for letting me know that I shouldn't have removed it, I'm new here and it's kinda exciting to create a page for thousands of people to read, and now it seems it's gonna be removed. Quite discouraging. I really want someone to help pin put what I didn't do right because I've been studying for some pass few days to understand how to be a part of this community. Please let me know what's not right with the page Thanks

  • Yes, I fully understand that it must be discouraging to see your work threatened with deletion, after you had been so excited to be contributing. I have declined the speedy deletion nomination, as I think there is enough claim of significance in the article to make speedy deletion without discussion unsuitable, but it may still be nominated for a discussion to consider whether it should be deleted, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. You ask "what's not right with the page". Basically, there is not enough indication that Jasmine Dawda is significant enough to be the subject of a Wikipedia article. The general notability guideline and the guidelines on notability of people indicate what kind of thing is needed. My very quick Google searches didn't turn up anything that indicated she satisfies Wikipedia's notability guidelines, but I didn't search very thoroughly, so you may be able to do better. However, if she doesn't satisfy the guidelines, then any article about her is likely to be deleted, no matter how it's written, in which case if you put a lot of time and effort into trying to save the article you are very likely to see that effort wasted, I'm afraid.
  • I am sorry that this may seem like an attempt to put you off editing, but in fact it is the opposite, because it will actually be less disheartening to you to realise that this article is not very likely to survive and move on to other editing than to work at trying to save it only to see all your work lost. (All this is if the article can't be saved. As I said above, you may be able to find evidence of notability, but I think it is more likely to be helpful to you to let you know that it looks to me fairly likely that she doesn't.)
  • My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. Proposed deletion of Jasmine Dawda edit

The article Jasmine Dawda has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable former model lacking in-depth, non-trivial support.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. reddogsix (talk) 20:47, 4 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
