K297BI—translator?

Re this: I'm not sure what a translator is, but I don't see anything in the article's lead about a translator. This is definitely an FM station that broadcasts at 107.3 MHz; I listen to it whenever I drive my car. Perhaps you can explain your reversion. Deor (talk) 00:33, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

There's nothing in the lede about a translator; I referenced the lede because it describes the content of the article as follows:

The following radio stations broadcast on FM frequency 107.3 MHz:

A translator is a broadcast facility that doesn't originate its own programming. Instead, it receives and rebroadcasts the programming of another station (see broadcast translator). K297BI is a translator, and it rebroadcasts the programming broadcast on the HD2 channel of WFUN-FM. There are 50+ translators licensed in the U.S. on 107.3 FM, but none of them are included in the article because they're not actually radio stations; same with the articles for the other frequencies. The quickest way to tell the difference between a radio station and a translator is by the call sign; all translators have a six-character call sign starting with either K or W (generally meaning west or east of the Mississippi River), followed by three numbers (the channel number) and two letters (assigned sequentially).
Hope that helps! Mlaffs (talk) 01:47, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
OK, I get it. I'm somewhat old, and I tend to think of traditional AM and FM stations as the "real" radio stations and this HD digital stuff as an alternative way of delivering what's on the real stations. Deor (talk) 12:19, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

WHMR

Hi @Mlaffs: I reviewed that on page review. Its one article and one non-existant article, so there is disambiguation. If the other article is created, then fair enough, but its not, so there is no reason for changing the redirect. Please do not revert it. scope_creepTalk 22:47, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
