Image:Florica Musicescu.jpg listed for deletion edit

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Florica Musicescu.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy (ptt) 21:02, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am highly dubious about the PD tags you applied to Image:Florica Musicescu.jpg, Image:DimitarNenov1.jpg and Image:DimitarNenov2.jpg. If you really did take these photographs, you may put the tags back but please state how old you were when each of these photos was taken. -- RHaworth 19:52, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

response re: deleted article in foreign language edit

Dear User RHaworth, thank you for your guidance. I don't mind you delete my contributions. I am sorry you see them as adding clutter and redundency... Since you are kind enough to correct my work, can you please give me a hint as to how I can create links from en.wikipedia.org to bg.wikipedia.org? or are those 2 completely different systems? I see dead links on my page even though I spent time to study how to create links. Mikimilano 18:30, 4 January 2007 (Kyoto, Japan)

  • Where did I say anything about clutter and redundancy? The articles were simply in the wrong place. Try this method! -- RHaworth 08:49, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

response re: images edit

I appreciate your concern (and your humor). Initially, I was not able to avoid the automatic 'speedy deletion' of the uploaded image of Florica Musicescu, in spite of an explanation and request for a fair use review & advice... I found this very cruel *1*. So I was forced to upload these images as 'public domain'. The origin of these images is Prof. Svela Protich, whom I know well in person. These are rare photographs of Prof. Protich's teachers- 'one of a kind'- and Prof. Protich determined it's necessary to add them to Wikipedia, for educational and non-profit purposes. However they are NOT to be used for any commercial purposes.

Since you have kindly critiqued my work, which I appreciate greatly, perhaps you can also support me to place the images into the right category (for fair non-profit use) without them getting deleted by the system... I would really appreciate it. MikiMilano Mikimilano 18:31, 4 January 2007 (Kyoto, Japan)

*1* I doubt very much whether it was cruel - did you actually read the image description after you had uploaded the image? I suspect it was a {{db-noncom}} tag that got it deleted and that you were the person who generated that tag. You are not allowed to restrict the licensing of images to non-profit - read idw-noncom and the things it links to. -- RHaworth 08:49, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

response 2, re: images edit

Hi RHaworth, please don't misunderstand (and apologies if you did)- I was actually being funny when I said "cruel" :). Seriously, I do appreciate your guidance... I am not ashamed to be a newbie here; I do learn from you.

Also, with my current demanding job, I simply had too little time to read all pages that need to be read. But I will make time. I will do my best to learn how to upload and properly tag my photo material in the future.

kindest regards miki

See Wikipedia:Fair use. Specialist advice is available from Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. I hope that helps. Tyrenius 02:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

I refer to your edit of Svetla Protich, where you added the categories I removed. Since those categories are supercategories of "Bulgarian classical pianists", hence do not tell any more info, they are not needed. Please read Wikipedia:Categorization and subcategories. Please send my replies if you disagree. Thanks! Spelemann 01:46, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:DimitarNenov1.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:DimitarNenov1.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 19:33, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
