Deletion nomination of Arnold f. Arnold

Meatsgains

Arnold was a noted writer, cyberneticist and toy designer. I am linking sources as fast as I can find them. However, in the meantime, please do not delete this. Thanks. MArnold — Preceding unsigned comment added by MArnold (talkcontribs) 14:55, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Deletion nomination of Sandra L. Anderson

Meatsgains,

Anderson has received significant coverage in the multiple sources. She is also a board member of Women in Aviation, International, which is a notable organization, and she has received numerous awards. Is that enough of a credible claim of significance?

--Margalob (talk) 00:11, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

I withdrew the speedy deletion tag and nominated the page for WP:AFD. Feel free to respond here. Meatsgains (talk) 00:28, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

Deletion nomination of Ceredigion_County_Council_election,_2017

Simple one word question. Why? Harry Hayfield (talk) 18:41, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

@Harry Hayfield: WP:TOOSOON. Meatsgains (talk) 16:54, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

If that is the case Meatsgains then please explain why so many of the local councils have a page? Harry Hayfield (talk) 17:06, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello Meatsgains,

Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 812 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.

Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

NGC 403

I looked for more information on the galaxy, but I couldn't find anything else, so I probably won't expand it now. Maybe if more information is online, I can expand it. Thanks! SpaceDude777 (talk) 17:27, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm having a tough time finding additional information as well. Good luck! Meatsgains (talk) 00:25, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

The Liberty Conservative

I'm in the process of writing the article, please don't delete it. I saved it because I needed an article to link an image to.

Thanks.

The tag was a bit premature but has been removed. Meatsgains (talk) 04:49, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

NPR

Hi. Thank you for reviewing new pages. Did you remember to inform the author of Tangxia, Rui'an and/or add the project template to the talk page? If you did neither, the article will probably remain a 'perma-stub' for many years. For more information, please see the tutorial. If you have any questiotns or need help, don't hesitae to ask me on my talk page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:04, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

What would I need to notify the editor about? All I did was add "linkrot" and "uncategorized" tags to the page. Meatsgains (talk) 15:37, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

PAS

Wait! I propose not to detele because no one made it yet. Give me a chance to fix this. Crazybob2014 (talk) 02:02, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

@Crazybob2014: I will hold off on nominating the page for WP:AfD, since your removed the PROD, but you need to provide independent reliablesources to establish notability and verify that page's content. Meatsgains (talk) 16:00, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

A7

Saneie Masilela definitely contains a credible claim of significance: the one sentence in the article. The event is covered in multiple newspapers, and though it's certainly an odd event (and probably a bit WP:BLP1E), it's enough as a credible claim of significance. In general, if something's being covered by reliable sources outside the country, should go through PROD or most likely AfD. Since speedy deletion is bypassing consensus, I believe pretty firmly that it should only be used in very strict cases and should not be generalized to articles that will "probably" not survive an AfD discussion. Thanks, Appable (talk) 18:25, 6 December 2016 (UTC)

After further review, this would be better off discussed at WP:AfD. Thanks for the heads up. Meatsgains (talk) 18:36, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
@Appable: Looks like the article was speedily deleted for A7 after all [1]. Meatsgains (talk) 23:37, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure if I totally agree with User:Ronhjones' reasoning for speedy deletion (A7 shouldn't be used when there is a CCS, even if it's only one event) but it was obviously a snow delete anyway so it didn't really matter. Appable (talk) 01:28, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

Deletion nomination of Carmelite Sarah Brewer

Thanks for the notice. It came up as I was creating the page. I have added citations and a section for them to appear in Works Cited. I also have a reference section which I am starting to compile. Given a Wikipedia push to have more entries about women in Wikipedia, I thought my great grandmother deserved a page of her own. She was one tough lady who literally saved 100s of people. I believe she was always deeply sadden both because she could not do more and the human condition that created the necessity. thanks againRcollman (talk) 17:10, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

@Rcollman: The problem is that while your great grandmother I'm sure was an incredible woman, she lacks notability and is only mentioned in passing in the sources provided. I have nominated the page for WP:AfD here since you removed the PROD. Feel free to discuss why the page should keep at the deletion discussion I linked. Let me know if you have any questions. Meatsgains (talk) 17:45, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
I guess I do not understand the difference between being incredible and notable. I do understand the debate aboutDeletionism and inclusionism in Wikipedia. I am in the inclusionist camp. We can agree to disagree about our perspectives on this. Let's see what happens in two weeks, I just started to start on my citations :)Rcollman (talk) 03:45, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

BBC 12-hour Editathon - large influx of new pages & drafts expected

New Page Reviewers are asked to be especially on the look out 08:00-20:00 UTC (that's local London time - check your USA and AUS times) on Thursday 8 December for new pages. The BBC together with Wikimedia UK is holding a large 12-hour editathon. Many new articles and drafts are expected. See BBC 100 Women 2016: How to join our edit-a-thon. Follow also on #100womenwiki, and please, don't bite the newbies :) (user:Kudpung for NPR. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:55, 7 December 2016 (UTC))

December 2016

Hello Meatsgains. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at How many people were left homeless by the dust bowl ,and where did many go?. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. Adam9007 (talk) 00:55, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

I concur with Adam's opinion. I created my first draft of a page at 15:44 and the paged was tagged 6 minutes later. As time permits I am continuing to work on the page. I am not a prolific page creator but have been a contributor to Wikipedia since 2006. I confess I get a little testy when bots or people slap a template on a page and do not articulate why. I do apologize to Meatsagain and the community if I am a bit out of line in my reaction.Rcollman (talk) 04:00, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
I initially PROD'd the page because there was not a single RS verifying the page's content. The BLP PROD in and of itself explains why it was added so an explanation was not necessary. I will make note of prematurely tagging pages for speedy deletion and BLP PROD but I would also suggest creating drafts in your sandbox before uploading to the mainspace to avoid this from other editors in the future. Thanks. Meatsgains (talk) 16:54, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

A7 on Kostas Kolokythas

Hi Meatsgains -- please don't place A7 within a minute of first save. For an article that stands even a small chance of developing into an acceptable format, a minimum of 30 minutes grace is appropriate. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 00:09, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

@Espresso Addict: Even though the article is a stub, the subject still lacks any kind of notability. Should I have instead proposed BLP PROD? Meatsgains (talk) 00:15, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
I don't think most newbies can tell the difference between our various types of deletion notices, so slapping on an immediate BLP-prod isn't really any friendlier, and in this case there is a reference. A quick Google search came up with [2] which states he's an assistant professor, which might be enough to stave off A7. Espresso Addict (talk) 00:37, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
I by no means want to scare away new editors. Appreciate the feedback! Meatsgains (talk) 01:08, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
