Response to comments at the Articles for Creation Help Desk

edit

Hello again, Matkadomu. The conversation we had been having at the Help Desk is now in the process of being archived, so I thought it better to respond here. On a minor note, I agree that the Chanticleer review is not quite the same thing as the Chanticleer award. But when we use the winning of an award as evidence that a person has achieved encyclopedic notability, we expect that the award is a prestigious one. There can be reasonable disagreement as to whether a particular award is "prestigious", but I doubt that anyone here on Wikipedia would use that word to describe an award granted by an organization that writes favorable reviews to authors who pay for them.

As for the more substantive question, I think your draft on Sarah Dahman is probably not going to be accepted for publication (but feel free to try again -- another reviewer might take a different view than mine). But if you're looking for other women authors to write about, you might want to browse through any of the lists given at Category:American literary awards. For the most prestigious awards, the nominated authors already have articles, but this becomes less true for some of the lesser-known ones. You might well find quite a few good subjects for Wikipedia articles. NewYorkActuary (talk) 13:13, 5 August 2017 (UTC) Hi NewYorkActuary! (Whee- I hope I do this talk page thing properly - I went through the links to see if there was anything special to do but couldn't figure it out exactly...sooo much to learn!) I completely agree about the award now that you explain that it needs to be far more prestigious. I will put aside the one on S. Dahmen for now and try to find other female authors who might be able to get some recognition. We'll see! Thank you so much for your help, patience and support - it has made this initial foray really lovely. Matkadomu (talk) 02:15, 9 August 2017 (UTC)MatkadomuReply
