More information on deletion edit

Hello, Darkwind, may I have more details about the deletion of the page I created Coins.ph. I would like to have a complete explanation if possible. Thank you.

I apologize for not responding sooner; your method of contacting me was somewhat unorthodox (typically, you should just ask your question on the talk page of the user you are contacting). We have certain guidelines for inclusion in Wikipedia. Any given article must at least attempt to meet the guidelines to be included, or it may be deleted at any time. In this particular case, the article on Coins.ph failed to meet criteria A7, in that there was no explanation in the article of why the website is significant or notable -- basically, why it is any different from any of the other hundreds of Bitcoin exchanges in the world. An article about a website needs to at least have a "credible claim of significance or importance" to avoid immediate deletion.
Furthermore, even if such a claim of significance had been made, there were insufficient sources cited to prove notability. There were no proper source citations at all, and all of the "in the news" articles were either based on a press release or just the founder talking about Bitcoins -- neither of which help establish that the company/website is notable according to Wikipedia guidelines. Had I listed the article for a deletion discussion instead, it would almost certainly have been deleted at the end of the 7 day discussion period anyway. —Darkwind (talk) 10:24, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
