Hi, I still think that this information is really valuable. Because signage is relatively poor in the area, people would benefit from good directions. Is there a way for me to make changes and still have this information out there, perhaps in a different form? For example, the Wiki page "Hiking trails in Alberta" lists various hikes. If you click on the "Crypt Lake Trail", you will see that the page is fairly similar to the one I have tried to create. What are your thoughts on this?

- We do not have a page Hiking trails in Alberta. Nor do we have List of hiking trails in Alberta. List of trails in Canada does not have a link for Crypt Lake Trail. What page are you referring to?
- And what information is it that you still want to include? The external link or your talk page comment? The external link is not appropriate as an external link, and it is not appropriate as a reference either since it is not a reliable source (see WP:RS). Talk pages are for discussing he content of the page, not for general discussion of the topic.
- As it stands, the page may be deleted. It reads as if you have simply copied or closely paraphrased material from a guidebook (presumably the one book in the bibliography). If so, that is WP:COPYVIO and the article will be deleted. Even if it is not copyvio I suspect that this article will be deleted. Aside from the one boo kin the bibliography it is unsourced, there is no evidence that this a notable subject, it's full of unencyclopedic language, and it appears to violate WP:NOT. Wikipedia is not the place to write trail guides. See WP:NOTGUIDE. Meters (talk) 21:39, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
The page I'm referring to can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Hiking_trails_in_Alberta and Crypt Lake can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crypt_Lake_Trail . The directions on the page are based on my experience. The Hiking Guide I cited as a source does not always have accurate directions, so no I am not paraphrasing it. The way to present the best information on how to get to these places is to rely on the experience of those who have actually been there and seen the destinations (ie. me and others). Hikes with Barry is a good source because he has been to these areas. If you have problems with these sorts of articles, then why is the Crypt Lake Trail a Wikipedia page? Their first external link brings up a 404 error, and their last link is an anonymous hiker who walked the trail. I would honestly like to work with you to resolve this in any way possible so that I can provide a service to people who are in the Nordegg area.Martin Nordegg (talk) 21:59, 17 August 2017 (UTC) (sig moved to end of post)

- Category:Hiking_trails_in_Alberta is a category, not an article. It's just a way of finding other articles that have been described as being about hiking trails in Alberta. Crypt_Lake_Trail has problems, but that's not an excuse to create more articles with similar problems. See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. For that matter, that article is about a clearly notable subject, a world-class trail (voted "Canada's Best Hike" for example) and the lack of references or dead links can easily be fixed; whereas, the same cannot be said for your article.
- Did you read the links I gave you? A user-generated blog (Hikes with Barry) is simply not a reliable source, and as I already explained, a generic source about hiking trails does not belong in an article about hiking trails around a specific town. The article is completely unsourced, does not appear to be about a notable topic (every town in the mountains has hiking trails in the area... so what?) and violates WP:NOT. I think it's unlikely this article will survive but I'm giving you a chance to try and fix rather than nominating it for immediate deletion. Meters (talk) 23:34, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi there! I saw your message on my talk and figured since the relevant thread is going on here, I'd reply thusly. I agree with Meters, and I think it's important to draw a distinction here, since you mentioned your previous articles that I approved. If you take a look at the geographic features inclusion guideline you can see how your previous submissions qualify. The issue here is showing notability of these trails. As Meter's mentioned, we're not here to give travel guides to folks, we're here to document what has already proven to be notable by our guidelines. And yes, not every article on here is perfect, which is why Wikipedia doesn't consider itself a reliable source. I feel a better home for this type of content might be Wikivoyage. Hope this helps! Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
