James A. Palmer‎ edit

Hello,

I posted a notability tag on the article, because I am not seeing how the subject of the article meets guidelines for notability, including WP:GNG and WP:Notability (people), which requires significant number of sources and accomplishments.

Is there more information about this individual that can help establish how their career affected the field of photography?

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL is a good tool.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a message on my page.–CaroleHenson (talk) 19:33, 1 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Editing tips edit

Here are a couple of editing tips:

  1. Punctuation goes before the citations, per WP:PAIC.
  2. External links should not be embedded in the content, per WP:ELNO. So, I took places where external links were inline with the text and formatted them for citations. They still need to be formatted, which can be done manually -- or since it's just the bare links between the <ref></ref> brackets, then ReFill can be run.
  3. To run ReFill and have it format the citations, I:
    1. Uncheck "Do not add access dates"
    2. Check "Use the base domain name as work when this information cannot be parsed" (as usually cannot be done in the latest versions of ReFill)
    3. After it is run, double-check that the information is captured correctly. It's fairly good, but not perfect.
  4. There needs to be a little tidying of the citation information, but I'll work on that - and I'll run ReFill this time.

Also, I removed two categories that you added because they were very broad categories. I can see why you added Reconstruction Era and Freemen -- but they are too broad (Reconstruction Era) and not really applicable (Freemen) for this particular person. If there were subcategories that included something like "photographs of...", then that would be better.–CaroleHenson (talk) 00:58, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

James A. Palmer edit

Hi,

I reverted the recent edits because I don't understand why the article was changed to remove nicely formatted images.

As an FYI, there's the link to commons in External links where interested readers can see the photographs in greater detail... we don't need to keep adding images here. This should just have some representative images.–CaroleHenson (talk) 19:21, 3 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

::CaroleHenson Hi, Thanks for the edit. It wasn't my intention to remove the images you added or insert more of his pictures. i just wanted upload the specific image i mentioned because it wasnt on wikipedia.
