Un de Sceaux

Hi there. Just thought I'd let you know that I've got Un de Sceaux started (about thirty seconds before he won today!). Please feel free to contribute. Tigerboy1966  14:38, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

By the way, don't get discouraged by having the images deleted (above). It does take a while to get used to the rules round here. Also, please sign up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Horse racing, we would be glad to see you there. Tigerboy1966  14:42, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello, don't worry I think I got their point of view of what pictures to upload and I'm not at all discouraged! Btw will try to contribute after the festival with anything I can. Cheers! Maok3 (talk) 14:54, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Champion Hurdle

Excellent work on expanding the Champion Hurdle article to give details of each year. There's a slightly quicker way of doing the aligns etc and also a template for odds which works out the fractions for sorting without having to do it manually - if you have a look at the diff on the edit I've done to 1964 you can see how its used [1],might save you some time and effort. I can help out on this expansion with owner's full names and times from a printed source I have, but only from the first race up until 1985. Are you also looking to expand the Cheltenham Gold Cup similarly? I can also pitch in on that. --Bcp67 (talk) 07:36, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks! I had a few days spare time and I had this on back of my mind, will try to get the GC done as well in the following weeks. Thanks for the odds advice, it was frustrating to try and sort them using my method :-) Great to hear you have the owners and time details, I could barely find the one for 1954! Cheers Maok3 (talk) 09:13, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Cheers - I have put times for the early races in, although the book I have quotes times to 10ths - so for the 1954 race it has 4:11.0 rather than the 4:10.54 shown. I'll put mine in as I have them and you can fix it as you wish. Mind you, timing a jumps race to 100ths is all a bit strange anyway!! --Bcp67 (talk) 09:21, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes the paper I took that time from had it at 4.10.4-5, I didn't get what 4-5 meant hence put it at 45 :D Maok3 (talk) 09:29, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Have a look at where I've noted the Irish-trained winners and see if you think it's worth keeping. --Bcp67 (talk) 08:47, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Yes no problem for me. Its interesting as just recently I've read that starting with Distel the Irish fans started to come more and more at Cheltenham, I didn't knew he was the first winner for them! Maok3 (talk) 09:49, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Faugheen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Night Nurse. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Stayers Hurdle

"The Stayers Hurdle is the oldest race from Cheltenham that is still run in the modern festival format". Not entirely sure what that means - the Grand Annual has been run since 1834 and at Cheltenham since 1913 continuously, and according to the race article the Stayers has only been run with its current conditions since 1946. The County Hurdle has been run at Cheltenham since 1920, while the Foxhunters has been around since 1904 - just a couple of examples. Can you elaborate on the Stayers comment? --Bcp67 (talk) 20:29, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Sorry - have now caught up with subsequent edits! --Bcp67 (talk) 20:57, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Horse of the Year

I have updated Faugheen, but I notice that there is no article for Irish Horse of the Year. Could be an interesting project. Tigerboy1966  19:14, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

Yep, I love Don Cossack but he only tied in with Faugheen because the latter lost his first race of the season, shame really I hope he wins the Gold Cup but 2015 was the season of Faugheen in reality from only potential to actual rising to the top of the tree. Should we only focus on the Horse of the year or the entire HRI awards ? They presented it at last as its their most important award so maybe only build on that ? 1945 Champion Hurdle

Hi, can you check the source for the date of the 1945 Champion Hurdle? My book here gives at as 31st March - it only lists the 3 latest runnings up to that point, and 1945 was the 2nd latest after the delayed 1947 running. What have you got for the 1945 race date - my book isn't necessarily correct! --Bcp67 (talk) 14:06, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Sure, will look into it now and leave the source in there like I did for the Gold cup, its annoying that I didn't do it the first time.. it would've saved alot of time. Cheers Maok3 (talk) 19:49, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
