Image tagging for Image:Portrait-with-2-pieces.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Portrait-with-2-pieces.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Portrait-with-2-pieces.jpg)

edit

  Thanks for uploading Image:Portrait-with-2-pieces.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:12, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Lloyd Schermer

edit

Hello – thanks for the message. I wikified this article in the middle of September 2007, and at the time it did not have a single third-party source for verification of the article's claims. Today, I added the EL you gave to the 'External links' section of the article.

When I edited the article, it was full of HTML and desperately needed to be copyedited, cleaned up, and wikified. It had no wikilinks to other Wikipedia articles, it was not formatted according to our Manual of Style and, until you provided this link I just added, it had no third-party sources to verify its claims.

I encourage you to improve the article with more and better reliable sources. Please become familiar with Wikipedia's Manual of Style, and use its guidelines for additions to the article. However, if you do not want your writing edited mercilessly, you should not submit it, because very few articles stay as they were first created. Happy editing – KrakatoaKatie 19:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Lloyd-with-WP-Door-Open.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Lloyd-with-WP-Door-Open.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:11, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Lloyd-with-WP-Door-Open.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Non-free rationale for File:Tom Freedman Residence.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Tom Freedman Residence.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File permission problem with File:Arch-office-sm.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Arch-office-sm.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 14:01, 16 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Image without license

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Cherished Echoes from Afar Carolyn Farb Commission 2015.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 16:01, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Magidson. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Tomas Lasansky, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);

Hmm, I see that you've already had a warning about this today; please excuse me for the inadvertent duplication. I note that Lasansky has had a show at a gallery called Magidson Fine Art, and assume that that is not pure co-incidence. Please read both WP:PAID and WP:PROMOTION with care and attention. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:44, 23 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Justlettersandnumbers. Thank you for working hard to keep Wikipedia a valuable resource and thank you for your comments and advice. Just to be clear, I do not, nor would ever accept remuneration of any kind in exchange for adding or improving content on Wikipedia. Also, for clarity, Magidson Fine Art Gallery has been closed in all forms since 2008.[1] To avoid the appearance of COI or bias in the future, I will only post suggested additions and not post directly to any pages that may imply such connection. Magidson (talk) 21:01, 23 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Madison, I think that's a wise choice. We have – literally – millions of pages where improvements are always welcome. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:27, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
