Replaceable fair use Image:Ronlogan.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Ronlogan.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 14:56, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Sea World Parks & Entertainment.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sea World Parks & Entertainment.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:37, 12 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Amusement Park WikiProject edit

Hello Magicalbill. Recently, the Amusement Parks WikiProject was reformatted and revived. As part of this process other related WikiProjects (such as Disneyland, Herschend Family Entertainment, Universal Parks & Resorts and Walt Disney World) were also revived and have now become part of the Amusement Park WikiProject as task forces. If you would like to remain listed as a member on these WikiProjects please re-add your name to the appropriate lists at the participants page. All names currently on the list have been cleared. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Thank you for your cooperation, Themeparkgc  Talk  08:22, 6 November 2010 (UTC).Reply

Nomination of Don Dorsey for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Don Dorsey is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Don Dorsey until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Elisfkc (talk) 06:47, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

I would request that a new Don Dorsey article be created using existing sources. Don does meet all of the requirements for a notable creative, the most obvious that he created the moving envelope parade sound system for the entire theme park industry. We should talk. COI Notice edit

Hello, Magicalbill. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Elisfkc (talk) 17:32, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I assume you posted this on my talk page because of the Ron Logan edits. I believe that I have no "conflict of interest" any longer, as my mentor, Ron Logan is dead. Being that I created the article in the first place, and then after I created it, Disney copied my article word-for-word for the Disney Legends page on Disney.com, and then I was told by someone on the Wikipedia staff that I plagiarized the article myself, I don't have the highest regard for how Wikipedia deals with sources, especially in the early days. I felt it necessary to update the article when Ron passed because I created it. In the early days of Wikipedia, we welcomed and even encouraged mentees writing about their mentors, as long as they weren't being paid by them directly (and I wasn't) and I'm not sure why this changed.
Also, today, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida, not a full professor. That means I stand alone from the general interests of the university. I do believe there should be no issues further. If I notice anything else needs to be changed, I'll propose changes and hope that you see them. I don't have time to work on Wikipedia like I used to, so I'm not here much anymore.
I would ask you, @Elisfkc, to restore my old article on Don Dorsey and add more details, as you seem to know Reflections of Earth really well. There should be more sources about Don online these days, so it should stand up to any scrutiny. Let me know. Magicalbill (talk) 23:49, 5 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, the conflict of interest does not go away even though Ron passed (my condolences), as seen on WP:COISELF. I am not sure when the policy changed, but it did.
As for Don Dorsey, he still appears to fail WP:CREATIVE and a quick Google search still leads to the same problem of only getting results of interviews with him, his own website, and credits on albums. Elisfkc (talk) 03:25, 6 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
