Disambiguation link notification for January 4

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Heritage of the March, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Thomas Clark (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Re: Route diagram template in the Signpost

Thanks for your invitation. But I'm bit confused about how to participate in the interview, should I leave my comment in the main page or the talk page? If you want more imput from the RDT project contributors, user:Useddenim and user:Tuvalkin should fit the bill. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 01:17, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

You can leave your comments on the main page beneath each set of questions. Be sure to sign your responses because other editors will also list their answers in the same space. –Mabeenot (talk) 01:20, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

WikiWork blurb

How long of a blurb would you like? Scott5114 (talk · contribs) created this in 2007, so most of us at WP:USRD are familiar with how it works. –Fredddie 00:35, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Longer than a blurb! I'm thinking something similar to our special report on banner templates. Do you think this would be feasible? –Mabeenot (talk) 00:45, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Absolutely. I pointed Scott5114 to this thread as well. –Fredddie 01:01, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
I don't see why we couldn't do something like that. I'm sure you could get a few USRD users to participate and comment; I think WP:TROP uses it as well, so you can probably have a few people from there comment too. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 02:41, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Here we go. Thanks! –Mabeenot (talk) 17:32, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Sure, I'd love to be involved! --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:32, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

One question on the interview questions, what do you mean by "Wikipedia's other metrics of WikiProject performance". I'm not familiar with any other metrics. –Fredddie 01:04, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

The other metrics this question is referring to are things like the four database reports for WikiProjects (scroll down to find them), hot articles, the useractivity tool for project membership lists, etc. None of these other ways of measuring WikiProjects is quite like the WikiWork data, and this question is trying to probe that difference between these measurement tools and WikiWork. Plus, this is your opportunity to suggest other metrics that should be developed. –Mabeenot (talk) 07:09, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

answering questions for a signpost article on wikiproject Supreme Court

I have been away from WP for a while and just saw your invitation, on my talk page, to answer questions for a Signpost article regarding the supreme court wikiproject.

I am very eager to do so.. Am I too late to answer these questions? When should I answer by?

Thanks. Please answer on my talk page ...

Okay, I provided some answers earlier today. I think they are messy so I am going to come back later today or tomorrow and edit what I wrote. Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 20:46, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

COI-Editor needs help with law school page

A few weeks ago, I posted a detailed request for updates (complete with citations to independent sources) on the talk page for Stetson University College of Law since I have a COI. There have been a handful of other minor updates to the page, but I don't think any editors have seen my talk page update. Since you're an active WikiProject University editor, would you mind checking my updates and posting them if you find them appropriate? The info on the page now is outdated and inaccurate. Here's the link to my change request on the talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Stetson_University_College_of_Law#2013_program_and_ranking_updates

SignPost WikiProject report

Sorry to bother you on your talk page - I could not figure out how to leave this message on the Signpost

I wonder if you could sometime mention in your report the two new sections that keep popping up on wikiprojects:

  • Article Alerts
  • External watchlist

I find those extremely useful, but am still struggling to figure out how to add them to existing wikiprojects that do not display them yet.

And, by the way, I love your SignPost WikiProject Report and read it whenever I can find the time. You have a real gift of asking the right questions. Too bad your interviews/reports cannot be categorized, and that there are no templates to link them back from the wikiprojects which have been covered. Just my $.02 Ottawahitech (talk) 15:57, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

We could focus on Article Alerts or External Watchlists as a special report later this year. We do have a template that WikiProjects can use to link to their article in the Signpost, although the template's use is voluntary and not very well advertised so not many WikiProjects actually use it. As to categorization, I'm working on making the archive more sortable by denoting whether an article is a special, task force, or other-language project. I'm not sure how Wikipedia's standard categories would work with Signpost articles. Feel free to drop by anytime and let me know what you think. Thanks for reading! –Mabeenot (talk) 23:23, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Hi again,
The reason I thought you may want to cover Article Alerts and External Watchlists is that it seems to be a mystery to most editors and as a result not used by most. This has an unfortunate consequence of wikiprojects being deleted with rationale like "no one is using it" when they see no discussion in the project-talk area. If articles were deleted because no one used the talk page everyone would be up in arms, so why is it OK to delete wikiprojects for this reason?
Sorry for rambling - am I making sense? XOttawahitech (talk) 15:30, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
I'll definitely look into it. –Mabeenot (talk) 00:01, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

About your note

Hi there. I saw your note at Centre for Policy Dialogue page. The text was NOT taken directly from the subject's website; this article was prepared using only fact-based information about the organization. Therefore, I would like to request you to kindly remove your dispute tag from the article. Avra.bh (talk) 09:24, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Keep in mind that I left that comment three years ago. The article has probably evolved in that time. However, looking back at the first few paragraphs, the article still sounds very promotional. Keep in mind that an article "prepared using only fact-based information" can still fail to provide a neutral point of view. If you would like a second opinion, feel free to contact the folks at WikiProject Organizations or WikiProject Bangladesh. Cheers! –Mabeenot (talk) 23:44, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering again :P

I bring a cookie for you:

We've been having some major achievments in our project since it was activated:

  • We have more than 6 new articles, one of them was taken into GA very quickly after his creation (See Morleigh Steinberg), also we have an upcoming article on U2 by U2, the band's official bio.
  • EDUN article went through a big modification and went from a Stub class to a C-Class.
  • We have updated, automated and improved the Portal (See Portal:U2)
  • And last, we have updated 2 of the top important articles on the Project.

So, I was wondering... what else do we need to have an interview. Sorry for the question again :)

WikiProject Report

Hi -- I saw the requests you posted for WPPSYCH. The only real maintainer for some time has been Lova Falk, but she hasn't edited for two weeks and might be on vacation. I watch the project to some degree because of my interest in neuroscience, but don't really think of myself as a participant and wouldn't be comfortable answering your questions. However, if you have any interest in doing WikiProject Neuroscience instead, the two maintainers for the last few years, myself and Tryptofish, are both around, and I at least would be willing to answer your questions. We haven't been a tremendously active project compared to some others, but we've done more than WPPSYCH. Regards, Looie496 (talk) 03:04, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

small suggestion for the Signpost wikiproject report

Hi Mabeenot, Just wanted to bring the following line:

By Circeus and WP:PLANTS members, December 17, 2007

at: Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2007-12-17/WikiProject report to your attention. Maybe the text "and X members" can be added to all new reports? XOttawahitech (talk) 14:58, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

You went waaaay back to the early days. :) Some of the earlier reports were indeed written by the project members, but having the project write their own article doesn't mesh well with the neutrality and objectivity that the Signpost tries to uphold. Keep in mind that the reports from 2007 predate the interview format we have today. As to including the number of members, I have done that occasionally when the project is known for its large membership, but I don't include member numbers in most reports because it can be difficult to determine how many people on a membership list are actually active. Plus, if they don't number the membership list, I've got to count them manually... which for large projects can be more effort than it's really worth. –Mabeenot (talk) 16:48, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Nice article this week

That was a fun read, Mabeenot. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 03:37, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Hey Mabeenot, I'm hoping to publish soon, so if you can add an intro, that'd be great. (I'd do it, but I don't know what you'd like to say this week; it's not a typical WikiProject). Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 21:32, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Just got home. I'll get to work on it. –Mabeenot (talk) 23:35, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Mabeenot, much appreciated! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 05:42, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Hey Mabeenot, as I noted in the newsroom, I'm going to skip a week and publish this edition as 12/4/2013 in an effort to get on a slightly more rational publishing schedule. If you want, I'm open to publishing a double WikiProject report next week to keep you on schedule. Thanks, Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 19:29, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

AFC Backlog Drive

WikiProject Articles for creation Backlog Elimination Drive

Hello, Mabeenot:

WikiProject AFC is holding a two month long Backlog Elimination Drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unreviewed articles. The drive is running from December 1st, 2013 – January 31st, 2014.

Awards will be given out for all reviewers participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 2400 articles, so start reviewing articles! Visit the drive's page and help out!

A new version of our AfC helper script has been released! It includes many bug fixes, new improvements and features, code enhancements, and more. If you want to see a full list of changes, visit the changelog. Please report bugs and feature requests there, too! Thanks. EdwardsBot (talk) 09:14, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
