Capital Beltway shield image
Greetings and welcome to Wikipedia! I see that you uploaded an image of the Capital Beltway, which I think the I-495 article has needed for a while. Do you have source information on where you got the image? Because of copyright issues, it's important to know where it came from to be able to continue using it. C.Fred 03:09, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
I see you have an update on the license status of the image. Do you have an email or similar from Bruce stating explicitly that the image may ne uploaded to Wikipedia? Interstates

- Well really you're supposed to only have 2dis ending in 0 or 5 in the routebox on I-70 to save space. But it's not a problem, the roads projects have a lot of standards that aren't obvious to the newcomer. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 19:22, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Capbw_2.GIF
Thanks for uploading Image:Capbw_2.GIF. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. - Capitalise the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns in headings, but leave the rest lower case. Thus "Rules and regulations", not "Rules and Regulations".

NC Shields
Thank you for creating the NC shields! I was thinking that the "Good Roads State"'s highways were getting somewhat neglected compared to those around it. VA project
Good idea. You have NCs laid out and most of everything started. My only concerns are regarding the routebox (I'd customize it even a little bit) and the stub because... you're technically supposed to propose it at WP:WSS/P... but they are really harsh on road stubs... so now that you've created it don't propose it now. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:58, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

virginia route NCs
Hi there, I've been working on the Colorado SH articles; I noticed that both Virginia and Colorado seem to have the same names for the state routes (state highway XX). Is this true? If so, are you planing on using the Virginia State Highway XX convention or the State Highway XX (Virginia) convention? Currently, Colorado is using the latter; if you're planning on shifting too, i'll start making dab pages for the same numbers. Otherwise, i'll just ... not. haha.
By the way, are they called Route X in virginia? It seems that on a lot of the photos they're reffered to as'routes' and not state highways. atanamir 10:38, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Virginia Highway Shields
Hi,
I've redesigned the shields in SVG for VA:
I'm confused about the font used. this site uses the 'fat' font, while this site uses the skinner font. I've elected to use the skinner font, but it was just a random decision. In fact, this image has both... when this image only has the skinny font. which one should I use? Also, should I make the SVGs in THAT format (the white with a black border), or should i leave it as white shape-on-black-square? atanamir 21:25, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

- Me again- i've uploaded all the two-digit shields over at commons under your cat. I've also released a 3 digit one for you to look at (those 3 digit SVGs just look... wrong). How is this?

Re:Wilson Bridge
Yeah i scanned over his edits, and it was just that one that caught my eye, I was thinking that i don't recall the Post's printing shops being on either the Potomac or the Anacostia, though the Times has one close on New York Ave, that what would the be bringing up river that would need a drawbridge anyway, paper? that would not make much sense, since a good amount of "pulp products" for the mid-Atlantic comes threw Baltimore, and it would be easier to truck or train it in, and they would more then likely bring it in by barge, which mould make the bridge being a draw or not a moot point. I have always been told that it is a draw mainly do to the navy yard and site restrictions for the bridge height. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 04:34, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if i got a little riled up. it's frustrating being in an argument where both sides are repeatedly presenting the same evidence, which both sides consider equally convincing. I volunteer at the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad in montgomery county. I actually did a training burn in loudon a few years back when I was in essentials. In montgomery county, fire and rescue are combined to the extent that the proper designation for firefighters is "Firefighter/rescuer." I agree that this type of designation is contingent upon regional use, but it is this very contingency that spurred the above disagreement (i was fighting the grandiose claim that a rescue squad is necessarily or even primarily all EMS). - I Just want to thank you again for taking the initiative. This anonymous user just rubs me the wrong way, both because they don't cite their arguments and present them poorly (i'm a philosophy major so it's really irritating to have to restate the same argument over and over again). Virginia Route Shields?
How Exactly do you go about designing route boxes? Is there any certain font or template to be used? I want to do this for some of the state routes that are near me so that I can add them to the article about the route.
Also, how do I go about working with the Virginia State Route Project? I am interested in being a part of it, and would like to know what I have to do with that.

Virginia Highways--Question
There are two articles for Virginia Route 199, and one of them has a redirect to another article. I would like to know if there is a way that I can remove the redirect. The article that has the redirect is the correct name, but the redirect is to another page that does not fit the naming conventions. What should we do about this? The links to the pages are: Virgina State Highway 199, which redirects to Route 199 (Virginia).

- I have redirected the Route 199 (Virginia) page to the Virgina State Highway 199 page, and transferred the information from the first to the latter, to conform with the redirect. I hope that this will clear up any confusion, and that one day we might be able to have the one deleted.

Naming Standards for Virginia Highways page
Is there any certain standard that we have established for the naming of the pages for Virginia Highways? I thought there was at some time, but can't seem to find it now. I ask this because a friend of mine is creating pages that are about highways in Virginia but they are naming them differently than the ones that are already created. --No1lakersfan 21:15, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

- I have tried using that, but it is not working. I was not using any references to the WikiCommons, so that is not a problem. It is bothering me because I know the image is there but I cannot link to it. Break
Unfortunately, I will be away from Wikipedia for a few months. My access to the site has been limited and I can only get on during a few hours a week. However, during summer my schedule changes, and thus I am unable to get back on Wikipedia.

I-495
The main thing I'm wondering about is signage on MD 187 (exit 36) - is it east-west, north-south, or east-south? Also, do you happen to have any information on where the directions changed on the east half before I-495 was removed from it in 1977? --SPUI (T - C) 04:44, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Northbound I-81
Thank you for catching the direction error for I-81 on Blue Star Memorial Highway. I'm surprised I didn't catch that when I replaced a similar photo that I had taken on eastbound I-64 with this one on northbound I-81.

PA shields
Greetings. I noticed that you've made a series of PNG PA shields and uploaded them to the Commons for use on Interstate 95 in Pennsylvania, among other locations. The new format for PA shields is now PA-X.svg, as you can see here:

- I use Inkscape, a free SVG creator/editor found here. Though it is freeware, it performs almost as well as payware equivalents. I'll be uploading a three-digit template to the Commons later on (by the time I do so, all of the 2-digit shields will have been finished, so a two-digit template will be unnecessary), so if you download Inkscape and the Roadgeek 2005 fonts found here, you can make shields as well! I am in the process of changing the code for the infobox to upgrade it so it is more powerful. I have to do some minor tweaking with what was already there and all the route boxes will be fine. -not sure about listing all the dorms....i think it might be overkill...most college pages do not have this feature...i would say concentrate on the academics or law school...just my 2c
Shields in List of Virginia numbered highways
I don't understand the use of the shields. We know from the infobox at the top what shields look like; adding hundreds of almost-identical shields increases loading time without increasing utility. You asked Gooday.1 about the brackets on Wikipedia:State route naming conventions poll/Part2. If a word is in brackets, it is to be included the title of the article but not used in text unless it is required for context. So if <Virginia> State Route X is chosen, the articles would be at Virginia State Route 80, but the text itself would use State Route 80, since that is the name of the highway. --NE2 08:52, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
SR NC Poll
The brackets around the state name show that the common name that will be used for linking and possibly body text will be evertyhing but what's in brackets. If you vote for say "Virginia Route x", you would have to type Virginia Route x for the aforementioned things. If you vote for say "<Virginia> Route x", then you would just use Route x for linking and body purposes. Personally I think it is a flawed system, because for North Carolina, we all agreed to use "NC x", something that I don't think can be shown using brackets. Yea... it's confusing; it's Rchen7748's way of appeasing supporters of P2. A compromise if you want to call it that. I think that many states are like North Carolina and we should use "SN x" (SN is state abbrev.) for most of them where they apply, but that's my opinion. --TinMan 12:32, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

I reverted this edit, in which you moved the disambiguation links into a See also section. Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Disambiguation links makes it pretty clear that they should be at the top, since they are only related by having the same number. --NE2 00:21, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
