Account usage edit

Hello, I'm Serge, an Admin here on Wikipedia. Is there a reason why you keep redirecting your user and talk page to another account's pages? I can't really think of a valid reason why that would be appropriate. Please don't do that anymore. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 16:40, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) This newbie editor was recently treated extremely harshly by User:Smuckola for their misguided yet WP:GF edits, and in my view later irrational actions look like a typical reaction to bullying. Diff: [1], then after Lyanbox782 hid the warnings, Smuckola went on to restore them "for the benefit of all the other poor editors who will be cleaning up your mess."[2].
Indeed, we need more editors who are willing to work on SVG replacement within WP:GL, as Lyanobox782 did. If not lack of time, I'd be taking Smuckola's behaviour to WP:ANI. — kashmīrī TALK 18:49, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Smuckola, may be a bit intense with his warnings, but I don't believe it really crosses over into bullying territory, and it certainly doesn't explain the various random articles this user has redirected their name to if you dig through their page history, including "SoftBank Group" back in November, which is 4 months prior to these recent interactions. Anyways, the thing that spurred the question, beyond Smuckola's request for intervention, was their recent edit that redirected their name to another user, which you yourself had done. I was concerned that was signaling that they were using multiple accounts. Sergecross73 msg me 00:23, 6 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about the whole Yahoo! logo incident. But many logos on Wikipedia are outdated, like Maktoob (which now uses the current Yahoo! logo). I'm also trying to add vector versions of logos because many logos on this site are low res. Also not every logo I upload should be classified as "Logo Spam" if I have only used it on one page (unlike the Yahoo! thing which I am still sorry about) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lyanbox782 (talkcontribs)

It's alright, I think it's just that Wikipedia's image policy is rather detailed and complicated. We live in a world where people can just upload whatever images they want, very quickly and without repercussion, on social media. But on a huge public website like Wikipedia, there's a lot more to consider than just uploading and placing wherever. I'm not saying you can't or anything, but you should definite do some more reading up on the subject before you jump in and do a ton of it. Some tips:
  • Read up on WP:IUP.
  • Try to find a less major example to practice on. If you start off on major corporations like Yahoo, there's probably a bunch of people there who may not have patience for your mistakes. But try finding a small time article to work on images for. I did the same thing when I first started Wikipedia. I work on music related articles. I spent time learning how Wikipedia work by editing these little indie bands before I started taking on these massively popular bands. And it worked well for me.
  • As mentioned above, please don't WP:REDIRECT your User Page or talk page to other articles or users. That's not allowed, as we have to have it so we can properly click on links to users if we need to talk to them. You're free to delete content, but not redirect it. April 2021 edit

Lyan, I was trying to work with you here, but even if you hadn't seen my comments yet, common sense should have dictated that you stop going full-force into the activity that was getting you lots of warnings. Please take this time to learn more about Wikipedia's image use policy. And don't prolifically make a ton of edits when you yourself concede you have no idea what you're doing. You simply cannot come back from a block and repeat the edits leading to your block, refusing to communicate. -- ferret (talk) 02:24, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Note for admins if appealed in future edit

After this user was indefinite blocked, I found a potential sockpuppet which was registered the day before this block was placed and continuing to actively edit. The checkuser sweep also found an earlier-still-active sockpuppet created while Lyanbox782 was blocked in April. -- ferret (talk) 17:06, 26 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
