Difference between User pages and Articles

edit

A user page is not an article, to put it simply, and should not be treated as one. User pages are intended to tell other editors who you are, and do not function as a place to put your autobiography. A decent example is my userpage, here. You shouldn't try and write a autobiography anyways, as you do not appear to be notable, and writing autobiographies on wikipedia is strongly discouraged. --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) Lungisani Malinga, Fans will never see this page. At all. User pages do not show up on google as a rule. MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 05:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

This page has information about an artist , a public figure so the article explains further more about his background and platforms where fans can find his music

You edited your user page, which is not article space. It is a place for you to introduce yourself to the Wikipedia community in the context of your Wikipedia editing or use. User pages are not indexed by search engines like Google. You may have confused creating an article with creating an account. If you are not Lungisani Malinga, you will need to change your username, which you can do by visiting Special:GlobalRenameRequest or WP:CHUS and making a request.
If you want to create an article about Lungisani Malinga(and you are not him), you will need to review Wikipedia's special definition of a notable musician, which is written at WP:BAND. Malinga will need to meet at least one of the listed criteria in order to merit an article on Wikipedia. Not every rapper or musician meets the criteria. If he meets at least one of the criteria, you will need to find independent reliable sources, sources not associated with him in any way, that have significant coverage of him. At least three is a good start. You can then use Articles for Creation to submit a draft for a review by another editor before it is formally placed in the encyclopedia. As a new user, you cannot yet create new articles directly.
You should be advised that successfully creating a new article is the hardest task on Wikipedia. It is more challenging than most people think it is. New users are much more successful when they have experience editing existing articles under their belt first, to get a feel for how Wikipedia operates and what is looked for in article content. While you can dive right in to creating article drafts for review, you will increase your chances of success if you first edit existing articles in areas that interest you. Either way, you should read Your First Article and use the new user tutorial before your next edit. 331dot (talk) 07:25, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
If you are Lungisani Malinga, that changes things a bit, as you should not write about yourself per the autobiography policy. If you aren't him, I am curious as to why you are so eager to write about him. 331dot (talk) 07:28, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
