License tagging for Image:Tobymac1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tobymac1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:07, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey, Lovelaughterlife. Good job for getting that pic. It was much needed. But you really need to get a license tag for it. Without that tag, it may be deleted, and that would not help us at all. If you need any help, please talk to me. I very much want to work with you on a couple articles, especially this one.--Chili14 02:00, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I got the license tag under "Promotional," because it was a promo picture from his street team. Hope that works! and I'd love to work on the dc Talk article with you. I'm currently working on an article for my school and the school board, as well as Skillet, so those might take a while, but whenever you need any help, just msg me or something! Thanks, and nice meeting you! --Lovelaughterlife 22:54, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bear Creek Secondary School

I tagged your page Bear Creek Secondary School to be speedily deleted from wikipedia because it was blank with no meaningful content. See WP:CSD for a dicussion of speedy deletion criteria. Feel free to re-create the article if you have meaningful content to include. Best, Irongargoyle 03:51, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:Bcsskodiakrugby.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bcsskodiakrugby.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Please use edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. --Eastmain 05:50, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Anti-Vandalism Barnstar

Why, thanks. :) We all do our part in building an encyclopedia, and since I don't think I'm so hot at writing articles, I sink time into this, instead. Luna Santin 22:58, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
For many contributions with limited reward, I present you with this Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar. Considering how many barnstars you give you, you deserve a few, too. Sharkface217 00:35, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello

Hello, Lovelaughterlife! I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. I accept your request, being an experienced editor myself. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the one you can talk to - just leave a message on my talk page. Good luck with Wikipedia! •Sean•gorter•(T) (P) 05:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have lessons to teach you:
  1. How to use wikicode properly.
  2. How to make a cool signature.
  3. How to start a great article.
  4. Make cool stuff on Wikipedia.
All these are the lessons that have to be learned. •Sean•gorter•(T) (P) 05:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
If you would like a extra cool signature made for you, see User:Sean gorter/Signature shop. •Sean•gorter•(T) (P) 15:00, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Lovelaughterlife, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact our administrator general Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Re:"Alternate Accounts"

I think that it would be wiser to just make all the edits from one account. If that's all you will be doing, it is not worth getting blocked. Chili14 made several userpage edits, and was never blocked for it.--Chilifix 00:23, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

What is the name of the account that was blocked?--Chilifix 00:28, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree that the block was a bit harsh, however, I also believe that you need to forget about it. It was indef-blocked, so just use it all from the Lovelaughterlife account. Chili14 made plenty of userpage edits, and was never blocked for it. If you ever need any help designing your page, just ask me. And I think Esperanza has some sort of Trading Spaces program.--Chilifix 01:51, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome.--Chilifix 01:57, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Adoption

Absolutely! Pleased to hear you like my contributions... you caught me at a good time, I've been picking up -- finally -- after being a bit lazy for the past few months (too busy to do anything that takes a while, and too tired to do anything involving thinking processes :-) I'm getting back into the encyclopedia, though, and hope I can be of help to you! Are you mostly interested in creating/editing articles, or in vandalism, categories, stub-sorting, wikifying, etc?
Editor at Large(speak) 05:13, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, there are quite a few resource pages that would be helpful for you. I suggest WP:TUTORIAL, if you haven't taken it already. It has the basics written out and doesn't take hours to sift through the info to find the useful stuff. Some suggestions usually given to newcomers (I'd give you the welcome message, but it's a bit late:-) :

Thanks for the birthday wishes!
My suggestion for learning how to create a properly-formatted article is to check the appropriate help page for every section you're writing. Start your introduction, then check the MOS page for introductions and make sure it conforms to standards. Then start your paragraph text, and make sure it contains everything a great article should. Then do your references section, again checking the MOS page for how to format resources. Check to find out whether stubs should be added and what categories it should be under. Save it once you have the bare bones. Then go back and add appropriate Infoboxes, if the article is long enough, and images if possible.
If you like we can collaborate on your next article and I can walk you through it, so you know the process that is most conducive to creating a really good article (so good nobody will want to mess with it :-)
P.S. Thanks for the birthday wishes :)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hey

I hope you are ok.--Chilifix 03:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Heh, thanks for sticking up for me on my talk page, Lovelaughterlife. I assume that he assumed that I created Esperanza (that's a lot of assuming, though... probably not good!), though, so it probably wasn't meant in that manner. And even if it was, I know it's not all my fault. ;) It's good to feel validated though, so thanks!
