Controversies at the 2012 Summer Olympics edit

I had to undo one of your edits as the discussion on the talk page is in favour of keeping that section. The conclusion was that even though the issue was resolved it was a significant controversy prior to the Olympics. While I agree with some of your other edits (and disagree with some) they are likely to be reverted unless you provide good reasons for them here, as there are many editors with opinions on the inclusion or exclusion some of the sections involved. 88.88.163.29 (talk) 14:54, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for the heads up. Some of the structure and content has been modelled around the Beijing controversies article. It's just quite possible that those who have been in the thick of it or in the British Isles may have a different view from those in other parts of the world, but that's to be expected. I'll keep an eye on the discussion. --Lolo Lympian (talk) 14:58, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
==================================================== edit

You have recently deleted the article Technologies used for Olympic sports with the stated reason that it is" not an olympics-specific issue". I beg to differ on that view and believe it is related--the GB team "won seven out of the ten golds compared with six out of nineteen four months earlier in the UCI World Championships when they kept the bikes out of competition", as stated in that article. When there is a disruption in pattern for medal distribution or results, there is reason as to why it has happened. And that is the reason why there is a discussion on the techsuits on the 2009 World Aquatics Championships page. The article is well-researched with reference sources listed for almost every single statement, and the editor has been improving on the piece steadily over the last few days since first publishing it. The piece is currently under review by the community and it warrants its existence at least during this period. Regards! (Showmebeef (talk) 15:38, 21 August 2012 (UTC))Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to the African Destubathon edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
