Kreuger & Toll

edit

It seems likely that the article on Henrik Kreüger will survive the "AfD nomination" that somebody made (section above), but you can probably improve the sourcing. I fixed the title of Nationalencyklopedin (it only has a Swedish title, and to find it in a library, that is what one needs to use) and added a link to the article in Nordisk familjebok that somebody linked in the discussion. In addition to those, there is a fuller article on Henrik Kreüger in Svenskt biografiskt lexikon (see this index of articles), which you can find in every major Swedish library (like in the Stockholm University Library or the Stockholm City Library or Kungliga biblioteket, or most probably in the municipal library of Lidingö, if that is where you live).

I would also suggest that you improve the sourcing of the article on Paul Toll. It now only cites a "private book" by Magnus Toll. I can not find that book in LIBRIS, which makes it difficult to verify for other people than those private individuals who possess a copy. But with all the stuff written on Ivar Kreuger and Kreuger & Toll that is available in Swedish libraries, I imagine that it should be possible to verify and improve the article from other sources. The reasons why people nominate particular articles to be deleted is still mostly a mystery to me, but using a privately published book that is unavailable to most people even in Sweden is likely, sooner or later, to provoke someone to nominate this page at the "Articles for Deletion" page, as happened with Henrik Kreüger. Look particularly at the work of respected Swedish historians like Jan Glete (professor of history at Stockholm University), who has written a few things on Ivar Kreuger and his business.

Keep up the good work! Olaus (talk) 11:23, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is very few relevant articles in "modern time" about Henrik Kreüger but a short summary you can find in the Nationalencyklopedin. That's my main source for the article. The other two sources is from the book refererenced in the article about Ivar Kreuger (his cousin) and the private book about Paul Toll. From these three sources I have made a "police-work" reading over and over again and actually have come up with information that no one so far has been able to present. I even got the publisher of Nationalencyklopedin (the main Swedish national encyclopedia) to actually change one sentence in the web-based encyclopedia that was obvioulsy wrong (which I am very proud of of course). The private book about Paul Toll is acually out on the second hand market but was never published by a company (no ISBN-no available). I bought it and read the whole story which gave me a lot of interesting facts also about Ivar Kreuger that has not been published before. One important fact is that without Henrik Kreüger, Ivar Kreuger probably would not have started in the contruction business at all and it was Henrik that arranged so that Ivar changed his education on KTH (Institute of technology Stockholm) after a while from Mechanical to Civil engineering. Henrik Kreüger was the man behind the success of Kreuger & Toll Construction Co. as the main engineer, calculations etc. the first years that created the base for Ivars Kreugers corporation. Therefore Henrik Kreüger must have an article on the Wikipedia. I will try to fix the references. Magnus Toll was the son of Paul Toll. Magnus Toll:s son published the picture that is included in both articles Ivar Kreuger and Paul Toll and what is told in the Toll-book is most likely very true. Happy New Year to you all! Ivar Kreuger

edit

Hi!

Thank you for trying to improve/fix the Ivar Kreuger article, it's a mess right and has unfortunately very little to do with facts. I'm trying to talk some sense with Kraxler, who seem to have a very strong opinion of one side of the story - the same story that people have been fed with since 1932. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gargamelik (talkcontribs) 05:34, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Swenglish to English

Yes, you are welcome to ask me to review any article that you think may need cleaning up. Also, feel free to ask me why a change was made, because that's a good way to learn. I think it is a good idea to sharpen language skills within Wikipedia so they can also be used in business. Chris the speller (talk) 20:59, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I cleaned up Kreuger & Toll. It wasn't too bad, in fact, impressively good for a non-native speaker of English! Chris the speller (talk) 19:52, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I see that you sometimes add new Sweden-related articles, good job! A little tip when you do that, is to always include them in some Sweden-related category, i.e., somewhere under Category:Sweden, and also to assess the article for WP:SWEDEN. If you have no clue as to the grades for class and importance used in assessment, just adding the template {{WikiProject Sweden|class=|importance=}} with no values assigned to class and importance is also helpful. Many useful tools make use of the project tags, e.g., to track articles being proposed for deletion, nominated as good articles, and so on. But, most important of course, keep up the good job! Regards, Tomas e (talk) 13:50, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the tip, but I don't think I have missed to add Swedish categories so far, for new SWE-articles or Sweden related files on Wikimedia commons, but I'm 100% sure. Lidingo SWE (talk) 17:01, 27 May 2009 (UTC): Ok, I see what you mean, the Yachting races in Sweden. Personaly I´m not a fan of too much categories. For the yachting races I would prefer a subcategory Yachting races by country, then you get Yachting and Country in one step. Lidingo SWE (talk) 17:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Kreuger family

edit

I did a little cleanup of spelling and date format (mostly en dashes). If I were starting such an article, I think "Kreuger (family of Swedish industrialists)" might work. A link should be added to "Kreuger", the surname article. Please check if the spelling is "Schultz" or "Schulz", as one of them must be wrong. Chris the speller (talk) 02:42, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello Lidingo, with reference to Talk:Ivar Kreuger I noted that you answered Gatorinvancouver (talk · contribs). I guess you noted that this user yesterday and the day before yesterday spent 16 edits to add 8kb to the talk page, including long and somewhat attackish comments on thread that not had been active for weeks and months. Checking out this editor's editing history since July 2006, he/she seems only to make minor edits to articles, and spends the rest of the time on talk pages. So don't get too much bogged down in this discussion. Regards, Tomas e (talk) 15:27, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
The famous Italian bonds needed some detailed explanation that might be of interest for the general public. Thunholm did explain the story quite well in his book from 1995 but did not elaborate in detail how these bonds acually looked like. No image has been presented. The bonds must exist in the central archive in Stockholm as they were found by the Kreuger-bankrupcy commission in 1932. By comparing the signatures by Mr. Mosconi and Mr. Boselli on the bonds with the signatures from some archives in Italy (there must exist on some letters), we could make our own judgement how "false" these signatures actually are. Now it's up to second or third hand information. Lidingo SWE (talk) 15:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, the distance from Lidingö to Stockholm isn't that large if you're into digging into archives... :-) Tomas e (talk) 18:34, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Lidingo SWE (talk) 20:54, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Kreuger family a different title by copying its content and pasting it into Kreuger (family of Swedish industrialists). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Pronunciation of Kreuger

edit

At the article Ivar Kreuger there is a discussion currently ongoing, which addresses the correct pronunciation of "Kreuger." I learned from the Henrik Kreüger article that two spellings of Kreuger exist. Does that mean the pronunciation is also different? I noticed that you were the editor who put into the Ivar Kreuger article that "three sons...changed the spelling of the last name from Kröger to Kreuger but with the same pronunciation (eu like in the French word fleur)." Where did you get this information? Is it from a biography or historical book? As you can see from our discussion at Pronunciation of "Kreuger", Kraxler and I are still debating whether the name is [ˈkɹøːgəɹ] or [ˈkɹyːgəɹ]. Lidingo, I see that you are a Swedish citizen. Could you help us to decide which one is right? Thank you. --Skol fir (talk) 21:42, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Sturehof

edit

The article Sturehof has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
