Request reason:

Sir/ Madam

I wish to appeal the block that was given to my account by the user 'Fuhghettaboutit'.

Hw blocked my account for the 'Hitlerist' userbox I created for the politics userboxes page and I do not think this is fair enough reason to ban my account.

I created the 'National Socialist' and 'Hitlerist' because the fascist userbox section did not have them. I thought this was strange as Strasserism (a form of Nazism) had a userbox and national socialism (the combination of nationalism and socialism which was realised in practice with German Nazism) did not.

Hitlerism is the term I used to describe the political system the third reich was under because I felt the term 'nazi' was innapropriate as German nazis never refered to themselves as such. A search for 'Hitlerism' on wikipedia directs me to 'Nazism' and similar searches on the internet and printed media direct me to a definition that states Hitlerism is the ideology of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers party.

My intention was never to offend or activly cause ditress to anyone with the userbox. Regardless of how vile Hitler and his regime was there are still people who agree with is ideolology and wish to revive it in some form. I suppose that it would have been wiser to create a 'Neo-Nazi' userbox but i'm sure it would be deleted as soon as it was added. Regardless of how offensive their beliefs are and how much damage they caused it does not mean that they should not be represented on the wikipedia community. Stalinism and Italian Fascism have userboxes and their regimes killed many and brought suffering to many.

I will gladly delete thge userboxes on my pages if people find fault with them and I apologise for any offense caused by them. I know how offensive nazi imagary is.

Thank you for reading this and I hope you will reinstate my account. If not I respect your decision but i'd like to know why.

I think that most Wikipedians would say that Nazism does not need to be "represented on the wikipedia community". You have made very few useful edits to Wikipedia. If unblocked, what edits do you intend to make? Please be as specific as possible and give examples if possible.  Sandstein  22:41, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

You are right that I have made few contributions to wikipedia bar removing a few instances of vandalism and correcting a few spelling mistakes. My account was originally created so I could reverse vanalism commited on the page of my old high school. The main use of my account would be to remove vandalism, spelling mistakes and remove violations such as weasel words from articles I am interested in.

My userbox may have offended people and may have been classes as inapproprate but I do not think it warrents a permannet ban with little chance of getting it reversed and no chance to ever make a new account. It would have been more appropraite to remove my userbox, give me a warning or ban my account for a limited amount of time. If I was a repeat spammer or was making edits to offend and harm people then I would understand a permanent ban.

I will gladly delete all userboxes on my profile and stay away from making userboxes ever again if it help with my case. If there is anything I could do to reverse this ban then I would be glad to do it.

Decline reason:

You created the userbox; actually two associated boxes. Therefore you created them in the expectation that they would be used here. Therefore you feel that National Socialist editors have a place here. Therefore you do not have a place here. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:15, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • edited 11/3/11

I think my first unblocking request was not thorough enough and gave admins the wrong impression and while writing this the reason I hoped to edit was read and denied.. I think I need to explain my actions and clear up any misconceptions. This will be my last unblocking request and if it fails I will accept the judgement of moderators and leave. If I do I would like wikipedia to delete my account and my contributions as I can not.

1. My reason for being here on wikipedia. I made my account a few years ago to reverse the vandalism on the page of my old high school while I was still at the school. The school used one IP address for its computers and it was blocked due to the high amount of vandalism that came from it. I created the account so I could reverse these changes. After these changes had been made I used my account to get rid of spelling mistakes and other problems such as weasel words.

2. Why I created the userbox Recently I learnt how to create userboxes and I created two political userboxes. One for National Socialism and one for Hitlerism. I created the national socialist box because every other form of fascist goverment/movement had been listed and third way economic system had been listed. National Socialism was not listed and I added it. I received no complaint for this userbox. I noticed that all other fascist political systems had userboxes but Nazism did not. I created the userbox and used the term Hitlerism along with a picture of Adolf Hitler and the flag of the Nazi Party. Soon after it was removed and I was blocked.

3. The admin who blocked me gave a reason that I think it potentially misleading- The reason for my blocking was 'User:created and was using a userbox that said "This user identifies as a Hitlerist." with a picture of Hitler and the Nazi flag'. I did create the userbox and I will not deny it, however I think it's misleading to say I was using it. I am new to making userboxes and I am sure you have to host it on your own wikipedia pages so that you can link it to other pages and so other users can use it. I put it on a userbox page along with a disclaimer so that it would not be on my main page and admins would not think I was being a nuisance. If I was truly a Hitlerist I would have put it on my main page for all to see. I put the userbox in my area so I could link it to the politics page. If you are banning me because what I created offended anyone then I fail to understand why the users who created userboxes with the names and symbols of other political system which killed many people are not banned. Why is a neo-nazi stamp any more offensive than the existing neo-fascism stamp? Both are political systems which have adherents with political movements and active parties.

4. What do edits would I intend to make if I was unbanned. Although my account is old I am new to wikipedia coding and editing articles on a larger scale. Edits I would make would be simple ones. I would use the wikipedia search engine and type in common spelling mistakes and correct them on any pages that came up. One of the articles I have interest in editing is the article on confederate heritage activist H.K. Edgerton. I am currently studying the civil war and have been researching the black confederate myth and the lost cause myth. I wish to edit the article to make is less biased and put some actual references into it.

I would also like to reply to the comment made by admin 'Anthony Bradbury' comment of that because I made these userboxes I have no place on wikipedia. I am not a fascist or a national socialist. I just created a userbox for them. First of the all the existence of fascist stamps meant that their creators intended for people to use them. It does not mean they agree with the philosophy or politics. Secondly would having certain political views make a user any worse at editing wikipedia? Would it matter if a user was a political fascist? It would not have any bearing on their ability to make editations to wikipedia.

All I did was make a userbox for a political system. I will gladly remove it because of the offense it has caused.

As I have said I will gladly delete all userboxes on my profile and stay away from making userboxes ever again if it help with my case. If there is anything I could do to reverse this ban then I would be glad to do it.

I have some bad news for you. Like the rest of the civilized world, nazis and nazi sympathizers are not welcome on Wikipedia. I am revoking your ability to appeal in this manner. If you wish to contest this block further you will need to email the Arbitration Committee as outlined at WP:BASC. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:44, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
