Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FACINGUNAM.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:FACINGUNAM.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:11, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Faculty of Engineering (UNAM)

edit

A tag has been placed on Faculty of Engineering (UNAM) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Printer222 (talk) 11:04, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Faculty of Engineering (UNAM)

edit

The article Faculty of Engineering (UNAM) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 16:52, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Restored

edit

Hi there Leonoel. I've restored this article, as I've litle doubt that there's a presumption of notability in this case, given it's a core faculty at one of the leading & largest educational institutions in the Americas. However, may I suggest that in order to avoid such potential confusions in future, that you write a little more detail on why/how the institution is significant, both in a national and international context. Things like, whether it's the largest engineering faculty in the country (don't know if it is, but it ought to be close to it), or what national/international research projects it is involved in, notable faculty and graduates, and so on. References and articles in the local or international academic press would help also.

Keep up the good work, saludos --cjllw ʘ TALK 04:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:CarlosKasuga.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. (ESkog)(Talk) 03:43, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:CarlosKasuga.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:CarlosKasuga.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:CarlosKasuga.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks for uploading Image:Logo medicina.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

UNAM

edit

Hi Leonel. Please refrain from reverting the UNAM page without a valid reason. You are erasing a bunch of requests for citation that are valid, as those claims need to be supported by references. In addition, you keep using an URL for its foundation that is not even vague; it fails to mention altogether that the University was founded on the date you are claiming. You also keep erasing two clear references (both published by the University and hosted at its official servers) claiming a date on the contrary. Its 2007 position in the THES rank was wildly wrong, etc. - Esteban Zissou (talk) 19:52, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Leonel, please do not keep erasing requests for citations, as those are valid since most what is written in the article is unsourced. In addition, please notice that Wikipedia prefer logos to be rendered in SVG, not JPG (which is used mostly for photographs): http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:File_types - Esteban Zissou (talk) 23:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to National Autonomous University of Mexico, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading Image:FIShield.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
