Note ultra peripheral regions. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 22:45, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Can you please clarify what "Note Ultra Peripheral Regions" means? You left it on my talk page. Am I supposed to respond to you there or on your talk page? -- Leehach (talk) 03:45, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I find discussion threads that ping-pong between user_talk pages hopelessly difficult to read. Since you had taken me task over deleting the stuff from core-periphery, I was drawing your attention to it having been posted as a stand alone article. And see what happened to it. I have also added a note at talk:core-periphery. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 06:29, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tin Pan Alley edit

I have not reverted your deletion from this artricle, but please note that a "neighborhood" has no official status in New York City, and the list used by the Department of City Planning is just that, a list. Neighborhoods (and their boundaries) change constantly, and they are defined not by the city or its agencies but by common usage. BMK (talk) 19:00, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

While neighborhoods are unofficial and ever-changing, the DCP list is offered as weak evidence that "NoMad" does not have any currency in New York. But since the audience is more general than New Yorkers, the main point is that it won't help non-New Yorkers identify the location. A statement like "Tin Pan Alley is a few blocks South of the Empire State Building" would be useful, but I think 28th between 5th and 6th Aves is perfectly clear on its own. Yes, your argument was good, which is why I didn't revert. BTW, NoMad does have some currency, but it's definitely a rising designation - albeit fueled to a great extent by real estate interests (as are many of the new "mini-neighborhood" names). BMK (talk) 22:45, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
