Unreferenced article drive edit

Hey Lacanthrope,

Just wanted to congratulate you for the incredible pace you've been keeping up during the URA drive. I've tried staying right there with you, but you are absolutely unstoppable. Unfortunately I got some stuff I gotta take care of for work, so I'll probably be winding down a bit pretty soon, but I appreciate the competition you've provided thus far. Keep up the great work! JTtheOG (talk) 19:34, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @JTtheOG,
Thank you and likewise—it has been an exciting couple of days and I have to take a break soon for other commitments, but it has been an honor going neck and neck with you. Cheers!
Lacanthrope (talk) 19:52, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I saw your academic userbox, by the way. Which field of study do you specialize in, if you don't mind me asking? JTtheOG (talk) 20:24, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not at all! It's a mix between critical theory and Asian studies (or rather an application of critical theory to Asia); hence the great number of Chinese/Japanese edits :)
Lacanthrope (talk) 20:35, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, that's awesome. Critical theory is fascinating. I studied international relations and Spanish, myself, and I hope to pursue my graduate studies soon. :) JTtheOG (talk) 06:29, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced drive - review edit

Hello - you used this source [1] at Matsuyama, Yamagata - in my review I left this note: "Source appears self-published, however, the site is referenced in a Yamagata Prefecture Government newsletter for the purposes of information about dialects in the prefecture, so while I feel the source is not particularly strong, it is passing." Nothing to be done, but just a good faith heads up.

BTW, great work on all your efforts during the drive! Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:15, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention - admittedly this slipup was due to my focus on speed at the expense of reliability for this specific group of articles. I have added a more reliable source for the articles above. Lacanthrope (talk) 03:03, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Congrats on surpassing 750 articles cited edit

Thank you for dedicating a significant portion of your time to this drive. Though you have "only" dealed with ~1% articles in the backlog, your impact is much greater than you might imagine. You have help set a fire for future endeavors to make Wikipedia more complete and comprehensive.

As you have well surpassed 750 articles cited, I would like to award you the level 10 badge early. Perhaps, a quote from one of our writers who has recently passed away would be the most appropriate here for the monumental work – citing all articles on Wikipedia – that we are dealing with.

The only way Completion can and will be reached is through a Herculean amount of work. Completion will also require Completionists to be bold, but civil and patient, and to some extent charismatic. This is a collaborative project! It shall also require Completionists to be discerning and travel to many places to acquire what the Encyclopedia needs. But most of all, it must be repeated, it shall require us to work. As is said of the Swabians, "Schaffe, schaffe Häusle baue" — Let's work and work, and build a house.

Automated tool edit

Hello. I was looking at your contributions and I noticed quite the rapid pace in adding references to articles, often doing so 3 to 5 times per minute. What tools are you using to do this so quickly? I ask because it seems strange for a less experienced user to be making these types of edits so quickly without the use of a tool to assist them in doing so. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Hey man im josh:
Thank you for asking! Everything's actually done manually; I just learned to pick up a few keyboard shortcuts (e.g. ALT+SHIFT+E) and shorthand for common templates (e.g. {{refs}} instead of {{references}}) along the way.
