Indian Expressways
editHello, I understand your concern but the point I'm trying to make is that there exist several credible sources (the CIA World Factbook and the NHAI website) that both state the country has only 200km of expressways. Given the fact that numerous expressway and road building projects are underway/have been completed, this number is most likely much higher. However, since a citation backing that claim up doesn't exist yet, it would be improper to remove a cited source and then insert a new number not backed up by any source. Please see WP:RS. Thanks, Vedant (talk) 19:38, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- I still don't agree with your edit but I'm leaving it as is. I have left a message for an administrator and he should respond soon. To clarify, the citation in the lede does not contradict the rest of the article. Just because you think that a source is outdated does not give you the right to remove it. Adding a reference from the CIA World Factbook or the NHAI gives a certain authority to the figure but deleting a cited reliable source and replacing it with what you think is the total figure is not what I would consider correct. Eventually, a reliable authority will publish a figure for the total length of expressways and then it can be included. I think it does a disservice to the article to replace cited figures with uncited ones. Vedant (talk) 21:53, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Kuwar, the administrator I have contacted hasn't yet gotten back to me but after discussions with Arjun024, we agree that 200km should be retained until a verified source can be found indicating the network is larger. As I have stated, I have no doubt the network is larger but since no credible information exists, I have kept it at 200km for now. As a compromise however, I did indicate that the figure is an outdated figure that is more than four years old in the lede of the article. See my talk page on the matter for more information. Vedant (talk) 17:18, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I will contact administrator myself. KuwarOnline (talk) 17:27, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Kuwar,
The reason I flagged it as needing additional citations for verification is that several of the major expressways listed in the article don't have any citations such as the Mumbai - Pune Expressway, Greater Noida Expressway, Western Freeway (Mumbai), KMP Expressway, Nat'l Expressway 2 as well as most of the planned expressways. What I propose is that the section be condensed so that only the major highways are dicussed in detail and have some helpful pictures while the minor highways (let's say, length < 25km) are listed on the chart but we don't go into too much detail. This way, we can link to all the expressways in the country but only list the important ones in the article. My proposed layout for the article would look like:
Existing expressways
edit(Chart here) - this chart would list only existing expressways in the country much like what you've added. One more suggestion I would make is to have the ability to sort by length.
Major Expressways
editMumbai-Pune Expressway
editInsert details here, a few pictures would be nice
National Expressway 1

Sion Panvel Expressway
editdiscuss, another picture would be nice too
Delhi Gurgaon Expressway

Planned Expressways
editThis chart should list planned expressways as well as those under construction. It should have a separate colour coded column that denotes the current staus (i.e. proposed, approved, under construction etc.). The section below should talk about major planned projects like the Ganga Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, NE2, KMP expressway etc.
Let me know what you think. Vedant (talk) 15:22, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
That's fine, then we don't need two charts. We can just have a single chart in the section that uses colour coding. I still think that the planned and existing sections should stay. A few additional sections could be added if details exist. A good starting point for an article on an expressway network (I think) is the Autobahn. I realize it's not perfect but it has the most important facts and a fairly good layout. Vedant (talk) 16:19, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Expressway
editI'd leave it to the project to rate since it is probably a C and maybe a B depending on how they look at things. The difference needs someone who works on their scale on a regular basis. I don't but clearly stub is wrong. Vegaswikian (talk) 05:58, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading this media,
However, it would be nice if you could give some kind of indication as to what license the media is under. That way other people can be confident in making use of it for many varied purposes :)
Adding license information also helps prevent media you've put effort into creating from being deleted :)
You may wish to read Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#For_image_creators which will assist you :)

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:The Imperial Mumbai.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:The Imperial Mumbai.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 08:37, 4 June 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:37, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Mexico City
editYes, Mexico city does have the largest slum according to this source. Dharavi is one of the smallest mega-slums Nikkul (talk) 17:41, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Kuwar, I think it is important to have a picture of Dharavi or atleast mention it because a sizable portion of Mumbai's population resides there and it contributes a significant amount to the Mumbai economy. A couple of CBC, BBC and CNN reports claim that 60% of Mumbai's population resides in slums. Although I don't really trust the accuracy of that figure, I can say that the figure is somewhat high or atleast when compared to other cities. As such, I don't believe it should be made the focus of the article but as far as presenting a neutral and complete point of view go, I think we should keep the Dharavi image. Vedant (talk) 22:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- I understand with what you're trying to say, namely that it's popular in the west to portray India as a nation of beggars and Mumbai as a city filled with slum-dwellers. There are cities that have larger slum populations; Karachi, Mexico City (as you mentioned), Sao Paulo etc. I couldn't find a single picture of the slums in these cities or even the mere mention of the word which seems kind of odd. At the same time however, we should try and paint a neutral picture of Mumbai. I'm not suggesting we get all melodramatic but we should be careful to keep important information. Regarding the image of Dharavi, I'm not averse to removing if the majority believe it should go. Vedant (talk) 04:19, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Grab some glory, and a barnstar
editHi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. monopending changes begin june 15 17:49, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 19:54, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

editPlease avoid votestacking at AfD like you did here, here or here. I agree with you the list should be kept, but now that you canvassed me I cannot comment reasonably, because it would be considered votestacking (and rightly so). Speedy deletion nomination of ITC Fortune Select Exotica
editA tag has been placed on ITC Fortune Select Exotica, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please visit the article for details.
You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Codf1977 (talk) 07:06, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

- Good, if you want to learn use Wikipedia:Sandbox or Wikipedia:Article wizard2.0 to create article but before that I recommend you to create article in your user space, also see Wikipedia:Your first article/Help:Contents. To create article on your user space see Help:Userspace draft replace "new article name here" with your new article name, once you finish writing it then you can move to main space. Also whenever you write on talk page, use Wikipedia:Signatures at end of your message so that your name will be shown to other editors. Dont hesitated to ask question/help, happy editing. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:BandraWorliSeaLink76.gif
editThanks for uploading File:BandraWorliSeaLink76.gif.
If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 09:07, 1 July 2010 (UTC).
