Conflict of Interest... edit

Please take a look at Wikipedia's policies on Conflict of Interest and keep them in mind. However, I do appreciate the fact that your references are *entirely* to the school newspaper and other third party sources, well done.Naraht (talk) 15:42, 21 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Notes edit

Hi! I just had some notes on your work at Petrine Baroque.

  • Make sure that everything is properly sourced and backed up with something that explicitly makes the claims you're including. The sourcing you have is fine, but it would be good to add more of it.
  • When writing, make sure that you stick to Wikipedia's style of writing. Some of this is a little casual in tone. I think that this may be a result of the undersourcing, to be honest. Most of this is just tweaking a word here or there, as well as attributing some claims. For example, the following sentence needs to be attributed:
The clearest example of Dutch architecture designed by Peter was his Summer Palace in St. Petersburg which was referred to as "Monplaisir" or "Little Dutch House".
What makes this problematic is that it comes across as a personal statement in that it sounds like it's you stating that this was the clearest example. If this was taken from the source, then it should be "Scholar X has stated that..." or "According to Y...". Basically, you just want to avoid this coming across as you making your own conclusions as opposed to summarizing the source material. This is something that is easy to miss if you're not careful (especially as Wikipedia writing is so different from academic writing) so don't beat yourself up over this - just make sure to be careful to catch it in the future.

Other than that, this looks good so far - I like that you added a section on the architectural influences, as it's of such obvious importance to the topic and detailing this will help give understanding to Peter I's style preferences. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:26, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Petrine Baroque Peer Review edit

  • Are there names of the architects that surrounded Domenico Trezzini in his youth? You could add them just as supplemental information.
  • Did Trezzini move to Copenhagen or is it the Italian controlled region of Switzerland he grew up in? I don't know much about geography so it may be nice to clarify.
  • Do you know when Trezzini started the St. Petersburg Chancellery of Construction? A year would help place where he was in his life when it was created.
  • Overall, I think this is a strong section of writing, the only other thing is that there are not a lot of sources which you are likely already aware of so if you can find more I think that wouldn't hurt. It was a little confusing not seeing a citation in the first few sentences of the article, but I figured it out by the end of the first paragraph so I think that way of citing is good. I like the use of images of Trezzini's work in your writing as well! Letimm (talk) 04:44, 11 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
