Please do not delete the page for "Rakeop"

The Rakeops were founded in 1953- and were sanctioned by Luther College as a notable organization for most of it's history. I was a member, and president, during the time that it was a notable, chartered organization.

Please allow the page to remain as it is truly a historic organization that supported the college for more than 50 years. After drinking regulations, and hazing activities were regulated-- this was not a part of the organization for MOST of its history-- the Rakeops disbanded.

Please allow us- who are proud of the many years of service and brotherhood- have this page. It was one place where we could find ourselves when doing a "google." It was always a nice joy to find us on Wikipedia. There are many of us who want to have a reunion- we have had many in the past.

Today- several Rakeops are Dr's, Engineers, Teachers. I myself am a Management Consultant who completed my Master's degree with Honors. I am recommending that the RAKEOP page be reinstated. Please do so. What do I need to do to help get it reinstated? It was deleted in June of 2008, apparently. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get this page back online. Thank you!

Deletion review

Is there no procedure for notifying the nominators of a deletion that a deletion review is taking place? I would have though that was a necessary requirement and certainly it would be just plain courtesy to do so. I happened to notice, while again reviewing the improper use of non-free stamp images in non-stamp articles most of which should be deleted, that File:Crayola.jpg was under deletion review at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2009 June 26 and closed by you as overturn. I still disagree with this decision and would have been a vocal participant as I was during the original deletion discussion if I had known this was taking place. I honestly believe King of Hearts should be asked to take a break from NFC-related decisions, or maybe any FFD closing. While a good admin in other areas, his record on image deletion discussion is getting worse by the day, to say the least. --Damiens.rf 20:21, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, but it is really way too much trouble to have a long fight over one improperly used stamp image when those supporting a keep can't see the real issue. I have better things to do, like getting rid of many more bad stamp use images. ww2censor (talk) 15:07, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

King will always count the votes. Any argument, either valid or not, either policy-based or not, will count the same. If it was just one stamp, that wouldn't be a problem. But this admin's incompetence is hurting the project since months. He must be stopped from interfering with deletion discussions. --Damiens.rf 21:03, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Damiens, it is interesting that you are willing to comment down here in this section where you think you still have an argument. Why? Because in the thread immediately above, it is clear that King's interpretation of policy is correct. But you do not seem to be able to admit an error in your thinking even when you are clearly in the wrong. It's a pattern in your thinking - you demand that other users stay "cool" on your talk page, but are unable to do it yourself. You demand adherence to policy but yet violate it when it suits your needs, e.g. reverting valid edits and reopening closed FFDs. Unfortunately, the rules apply to you just as they apply to everybody else.

If you really understood policy so much better than King, you would either (a) be an admin, or (b) be able to file a complaint against King and have the community agree with you. Since that hasn't happened, I think the perfectly logical conclusion is that your interpretation is wrong. Furthermore, if you were the master of policy that you put yourself out to be, you wouldn't have major flops such as your ill-advised effort to have the Six Sigma Pricing redirect deleted. (I also noticed that you didn't put up your usual vigorous fight when other users came back and challenged the proposed deletion. Was it too difficult to admit your error?) Maturity dictates that you accept the simple fact that the world does not always agree with you. Regardless of what you may believe, your views are no more "special" than the views of anybody else on Wikipedia. Decisions are made by consensus and it is not your place to try and compel everybody to conform to your view of the world. Ahem: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fledgling Jason Steed. The first thing I do when closing discussions is to scan it quickly. Yes, I do always count the votes, but solely for classifying the discussion (after all, there's no point in wasting your time when you have 5-0 for delete with no objections). In the Crayola case, we had 7 overturns to 4 endorses, with a moderately heavy load of replies, which screams "Take your time!" Reading the discussion very carefully, it is evident that 1) the image is not PD; 2) the image initially served only a decorative purpose; but 3) there is no longer a consensus that it fails NFCC #8 after changes were made to the article.

Damiens, I think you always call the keep !votes invalid because you hold too high a bar for meeting NFCC #8. Could you do one thing for me: Identify a non-free image you think qualifies under NFCC #8 that 1) is not famous (e.g. Iwo Jima) 2) does not fit in any boilerplate category of acceptable images (e.g. logos, album covers). -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 04:33, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey KoH. The Stephen Garcia article appears to have been created and deleted a few times. I'm interested in seeing what was there. Can you see what was deleted previously and if there's anything in any of the versions post it to my userspace? The guy is a starting quarterback for the South Carolina Gamecocks, so I think he's getting pretty notable. Thanks. Let me know if you have any comments or concerns or if I should ask someone else. Article protection or edit filter?

Full story here. Short version: would it be better to semiprotect Kamen Rider Ryuki (as that's the only article he's hit), or produce an edit filter to restrict a string from being placed on any article just in case he begins vandalizing the other pages?—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 21:38, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey there king

I saw that you do (or did) a lot of admin coaching. I was wondering what requirements I would have to meet in order to become your apprentice. Normally, I would be quite willing to accept a new coachee. Unfortunately, my activity level on Wikipedia has dropped a lot lately because I've become quite busy in real life, so I might not have time, sorry. But you're entirely qualified for admin coaching; you might want to ask someone on this list and see if they're available to coach you.
