Speedy deletion nomination of Brooklyn bunny edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Brooklyn bunny requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ~~EBE123~~(talk) 21:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Removing Speedy at Brooklyn bunny edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Brooklyn bunny, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 22:11, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Status and Advice edit

As reviewing administrator, I I declined the deletion of the article on the firm., but the article, as well as the article at AfD, have problems . As a group, the repetition among the articles in both text and illustrations shows a clearly promotional intent, which is not acceptable here. The article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources,'print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. You also need to write like an encyclopedia article, not a press release--don't praise the organization or person, say what it does. And be sure you're not copying from a web site -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable.

In addition, as it says in our policy, WP:COI, you may edit, provided you do so objectively. It is not advised, because experience shows that a person will have great difficulty writing an objective article about their own organization, as these articles demonstrate.

However, you must choose another username. As explained in WP:USER, only individuals may edit. When you use a name that is or includes the namer of your organization, you imply that you are editing officially, and have a superior right to edit the page. But that is not the way WP works--all editors are considered equal--and your contributions like those of any editor must be justified by sources. I'm sure you did not intend to give such impression, but that's why we have the rule. Therefore, please choose another name. On that user page, you should say whom you are working for.

For more detailed information, there's the free online version of Wikipedia: The Missing Manual by John Broughton (also available in print). Beyond that, the best general guide to using Wikipedia is 'the free online version of Wikipedia: The Missing Manual by John Broughton (also available in print)

I advise you to fix all this very quickly, before the articles all get deleted. They can't really stay in their present condition. I did a good deal of it for you. DGG ( talk ) 01:59, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Copyright problem edit

I have deleted the article Kevin Dresser (artist) as a copyright violation from http://www.dresserjohnson.com/about_us.html. Copyright is a very serious issue for Wikipedia: I am sure you would tell us that you agree too our using this, but we have no way to be sure that someone on the end of a wire is who he says he is, and Wikipedia's license involves more than just permission to reproduce. For that reason it is essential that the copyright holder understands what he is agreeing to, see WP:Copyrights#Contributors' rights and obligations, and a formal release is made in advance, as explained at WP:Donating copyrighted materials.

However, in most cases that is not worth doing, because the promotional tone of a company or personal website is likely to be unsuitable for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view. Article subjects need to have notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." There is more detail at WP:Notability (people), and good advice on how to write an acceptable article at WP:Your first article, while WP:Autobiography explains why people are strongly discouraged from writing articles about themselves. Kevin, please stop writing about yourself. If your design for a bandage logo merits mention in the article someone else will add it, with the requisite reliable sources. Otherwise it just looks like you're trying to get your name into articles. Thanks, JNW (talk) 23:34, 14 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
