There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:

Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles

    Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Editing your user page edit

Kdwerner, I get the impression that you thought you had edited your user page, but I'm not seeing anything. Maybe you need to edit it and click on "Save page" below the editing box. The template on this talk page above has a link for "How to edit a page." Maybe that will help!!! Welcome to Wikipedia and have fun!

Welcome to Wikipedia: check out the Teahouse! edit

Adopt a Journalist assignment edit

I assign you Mexican journalist Maria Elizabeth Macías Castro ("La Nena de Laredo") from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.Crtew (talk) 01:00, 3 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Tew, I have a question about what exactly is due by the end of the week. I created the infobox on Maria Elizabeth Macías Castro. I also have edited a few parts of her page, as well. I was just wondering if we are supposed to go ahead and fill out everything we can find and do citations, or is that for another week? I don't want to get ahead just in case there are more videos and tutorials you would like us to see. If you could just tell me exactly what to have done for Friday, that would be great! Thanks in advance! Kdwerner (talk) 16:18, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Go ahead and fill out the infobox and write a statement of notability. Why was this person important? Why does this person deserve to be in an encyclopedia? Crtew (talk) 22:23, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Kdwerner, it's great that you caught that she is listed under two names in the articles. Searching for the name you found brings up more articles. I posted a few to your page. You should report both names. Use the latter one as the primary name for the article and use the initial name as the "also known as ..." She is also known as two different online names. Did you see both of those? Her identity is getting confusing. I sent out a message to the class using your person as an example. Keep up the good work!

A cupcake for you! edit

Good catch! I'm glad you spotted her different names. Crtew (talk) 20:58, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

Kdwerner, Please verify whether she was a journalist or worked for a newspaper. Which sources say what? Also in terms of notability, she was first at something. What is it? Let me check back later with you to see what you came up with, Good luck, Crtew (talk) 05:03, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Kdwerner: The following is inaccurate/dubious: "She was one of the first journalists to be murdered and tortured for posting facts about these criminal groups." Look closer. Be more specific about which medium she was using. Crtew (talk) 16:57, 24 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tech Question edit

How did you solve your reflinks tool problem? That would be helpful to know! Crtew (talk) 16:22, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Infobox edit

Your infobox is missing some information points that you should know from the articles.Crtew (talk) 16:04, 9 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Peer Review edit

Hi! I'm doing my review for our comm 192 class. Your page looks great and I can tell you did a lot of research. I found the "Death" section to be very detailed. I also used your website as a guide while making my own.

I really am sorry to say that I do not have any reccomendations at this time. I saw on your talk page that you have been working with Dr2 closely, and as I said before, I myself have been using your page as a guid for my own.

Wikipedia Education Program: student survey! edit

Hi! I work with the Wikipedia Education Program, and I'm hoping to get your feedback about your experience this semester! In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it would be very helpful to hear from real program students about their experience, so we know what to change. The survey takes no more than 10 minutes, and I'd really appreciate your response!

Thanks so much! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 01:52, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
