Hi Kaseyscors, I tried seeing what I could find. I think that this may be useful. It's a book called Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression in Social Work Practice that was published through Columbia University Press. It focuses on social work but will likely have material that you could use. This has the term come up a few times, so it'd be worth reviewing.

A lot of what I found were studies, which would be considered a primary source and as such, would need a secondary source that backs up the claims and results in the study. With those, it'd be worth looking through some of the materials that cite it to see if there are things like literature reviews of the study. It would also be worthwhile to look through the study itself and see if there are any sources that could be useful. I found the following sources, which could be useful:

  • Horn SS (2004) Adolescents’ peer interactions: Conflict and coordination among personal expression, social norms, and moral reasoning. In: Nucci L (ed) Conflict, contradiction, and contrarian elements in moral development and education. Erlbaum, Mahwah, New Jersey
  • Transgender emergence: Therapeutic guidelines for working with gender-variant people and their families AI Lev - 2013

I don't know if your library does Scribd (some do) but if so, then there's a link to the first book here.

I did find some articles that could be helpful, but would need to be reviewed. These were ones that came up in Google Scholar while using the term gender expression and either had it in their title or abstract or had it listed as a key word. There are a few that didn't have this, but had a positive enough snapshot view that I thought they could be helpful: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11]

This could be useful. It's a study, however it does summarize other literature quite frequently. The main thing is that you cannot use any of the data or results created by the researchers, so nothing from the study - just the literature reviews. The same goes with this.

Shalor (Wiki Ed), thanks for trying to help. I don't see what else I should state on the matter other than what I stated on the talk page. For example, I mentioned that (with the exception of a Gender expression article) we already have articles for all or most of the stuff this class has tried to add. We shouldn't be cobbling together sources on other topics just to build on this topic. The sources should specifically be about gender expression or have significant material about it. Sources with passing mentions are not ideal. Regarding the "Sissies and Tomboys: Gender Nonconformity and Homosexual Childhood" source you pointed to, we have a Sissy article, an Effeminacy article, a Gender variance article (which is also the Gender nonconformity article), and a Childhood gender nonconformity article. What the Gender variance article addresses is one reason why I've questioned the need for a Gender expression article. Yes, gender expression is not just about gender nonconformity, but the topic of gender expression mainly addresses LGBT and gender nonconformity aspects. Regarding "Transgender emergence: Therapeutic guidelines for working with gender-variant people and their families AI Lev - 2013"... Again, gender variant material would be best served in the Gender variance article unless the Gender expression article is just noting a bit about gender-variant people and leaving the Gender variance article article to go in detail about it.

Hi! I wanted to leave some notes on your edits to women in Belarus. I saw that you used everyculture.com as a source, however I am concerned that the site isn't clear about whether or not they have any editorial oversight, who writes the articles, or if they were taken from somewhere else. I wouldn't use it as a source. You always want to make sure that you're using the best possible source and that you're only summarizing what was explicitly stated in the source material. Hi Shalor! I used that source because it was the source that was previously used on the page and particularly used for that section (roles in society). I just tried to add more to that section to give it better context. I do believe that site has been used as a reference quite a bit on the page (prior to me working on it) leaving me to be under the impression that it was credible and okay to use. Kaseyscors (talk)
