Speedy deletion nomination of Liverpool vs Dynamo Bucharest 1984 European Cup Semi Final edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Liverpool vs Dynamo Bucharest 1984 European Cup Semi Final requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Liverpool vs Dynamo Bucharest 1984 European Cup Semi Final. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. I see that you have now created this page at least three times, and that twice there have been discussions about it, both of which produced unambiguous consensus that it is not suitable for Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a collaborative project, and it is essential for editors to accept such clear consensus, even when they personally disagree with it. Please don't continue to try to unilaterally overturn consensus by just ignoring it and restoring what has been decided to be inappropriate. If you do continue in the same way you may be blocked from editing by an administrator. JBW (talk) 14:39, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

No, the consensus was far from unambiguous. And let's be clear about the subject matter -- this is an extraordinary and historic sporting tie, which has passed into legend in European Club football. It also featured recently in a documentary on Sky Sports (it is very rare by the way for an individual tie to be accorded its own feature like this), which attests to the fact that it has only grown in prominence and notability since the deletions you cite. The Sky programme was the main reason I decided to reinstate the article. I hope that other editors can exercise their discretion and realise the significance of the tie, and that it is ludicrous for this event not to have its own article, mainly only because it was a semi-final and not a final of a football competition. Dozens of finals in the past 40 years have been forgotten; this tie is still very much making the headlines. Jprw (talk) 14:29, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have now found two more deletion discussions for further copies of this article which you have created, under variations on the same title. Considering that you have therefore at least four times re-created the article in straight defiance of consensus, and that you have evaded article protection by slightt changes in title, you are extremely lucky not to have already been indefinitely blocked from editing.
