While Vinos Sofka is very probably notable enough to be the subject of a Wikipedia article, the article you created was not the right one, as it was unambiguously written to promote a point of view. The article was full of praise for Vinos Sofka, clearly showing that the writer of the article believes he was a great person, and it also clearly sought to encourage the reader to agree with the views which the article attributed to Vinos Sofka. A Wikipedia article, however, should be written from a neutral point of view, and writing which promotes, advertises, or advocates a particular view is contrary to Wikipedia policy. The promotional nature of the article would justify summarily deleting it, in acordance with Wikipedia's policy on speedy deletion, but you have clearly put a good deal of work into it, so instead of deleting it I have moved it to Draft:Vinos Sofka, where it can be worked on and improved, and eventually submitted for review by an experienced editor who will check whether it is suitable as an article, and if not give advice on what improvements are needed. My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. Hi Joymgb, I thought you should have an update. The article was still very promotional, but a number of us have worked on it and it's now shorter and more neutral. I was able to track down one of the references that you didn't have a url for, and add another, but I was unable to find anything in the Swedish newspapers; it's possible it's not online, or that since he returned to the Czech Republic for the latter part of his career, he didn't get a Swedish obituary. I was concerned to find some inaccuracies, and I tried to add a little bit about his personal life; do you have a reference about his wife, and whether he remarried? But please don't add back any of the praise for his work, or a list of publications; since this is an encyclopedia, we keep entries brief and factual, and based on the most reliable sources. (Additional sources independent of ICOM and ICOFOM would be good.) THanks for writing about him! Yngvadottir (talk) 12:41, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
