Speedy deletion declined: Matrix (name) (disambiguation)

edit

Hello Jon Harald Søby, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Matrix (name) (disambiguation), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: WP:INTDABLINK, this is a perfectly valid redirect. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Courcelles 04:36, 24 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, that may be one of the stupidest rules/guidelines I've ever heard. Buh whatever. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 12:39, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Greenland and Island Nations

edit

Jon,

You stated quite strongly that Greenland shouldn't be considered an Island country. This brings up the wider issue of de jure versus de facto status. Using a countries self-proclaimed official (de jure) status is considered patently ridiculous for governments - we don't call North Korea a democracy or England an authoritarian monarchy, despite their official ridiculous claims. Many countries make the same ridiculous legal claims, notably Taiwan. While Taiwan is obviously a island country no matter what their government says, I'm not sure Greenland is clearly either way. The issue is not whether it's "officially" part of Denmark, but whether Denmark truly controls it.
