Speedy deletion of John D. S. Adams

edit

A tag has been placed on John D. S. Adams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.  UzEE  06:47, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of John D. S. Adams, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.banffcentre.ca/faculty/faculty_member.aspx?facId=3201. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of John D. S. Adams

edit

A tag has been placed on John D. S. Adams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Don't pollute article space

edit

Hello, Johndsadams … if you insist on creating an autobiographical article, then create your own sandbox first and add some independent WP:RS coverage about yourself … you can find your user sandbox here. (And if it doesn't exist yet, feel free to create it!) Happy Editing! — 141.156.161.245 (talk · contribs) 23:04, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough. Sorry about polluting. I'll banish myself to the Sandbox! Johndsadams (talk) 23:34, 20 October 2009 (UTC)JohndsadamsReply

Just a friendly note on John D. S. Adams. The reason the article was deleted was because is was a copyright violation of this site. Copyright is a legal issue, which Wikipedia takes very seriously. If the copyright holder wishes to donate the material to Wikipedia, instructions are at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Otherwise, any contributions need to be in the contributor's own words.

From your user name, it looks like you may have a conflict of interest with this subject. Everyone thinks they can write about themselves or something they are closely connected with in an unbiased manner, but being human, few can. Even if you do manage to write an unbiased article, people will suspect bias because of the connection. This is why Wikipedia strongly discourages editing articles where you have a conflict of interest. HTH.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 23:03, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
