Speedy deletion of Image:Columbia race riot.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Columbia race riot.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image with an unknown source or an unknown copyright status which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Columbia race riot.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ¢rassic! the image is public domain, and I edited it accordingly Joetwostep (talk) 23:26, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

You placed a public domain license on the image – which states that the image was first published prior to January 1, 1923. Unfortunately, I doubt this is the case as the 'race riot' happened in 1946. Do you possibly have a link to where you got the image? I might be able to help you if you do. ¢rassic! apparently its from the Library of Congress, I searched the image out and found another site with it http://americanradioworks.publicradio.org/features/marshall/columbia.html Joetwostep (talk) 12:38, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

For Wikipedia's legal protection, you need to find evidence of the source and document it on the image page. The procedures and policies can be confusing; go to Wikipedia:Media copyright questions for help on this. --Orlady (talk) 14:21, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with File:City of Columbia Logo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:City of Columbia Logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 18:11, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
