Jmertell23, re: your deletion of my page George L. McLaird

I went to my page today to make some changes only to be told it doesn't exist. Steven Philbrick gave my your name as the person who suggested it be deleted. You said you found errors in it. I challenge that completely. The last time I checked, a few months ago, it was 100% accurate with all of my claim verifiable. Please let me know what you found on my page that lead you to suggesting it be deleted.

Thank you,

Thanks for reaching out. You can find the community discussion regarding whether to delete the article here. Essentially, the article failed to provide reliable sources indicating notability (or, more specifically, the notability guidelines for authors). In addition, please read Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy. Wikipedia strongly advises editors against writing autobiographies or about any subject with which they have an external relationship. -Jmertel23 (talk) 19:31, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Blockbusting (game): categorisation, sources, notability

I see you have asked for improved categorisation of Blockbusting (game), but I am at something of a loss to know how and found no helpful advice in WP:CAT – have you any suggestions? I did look at categories related to Category:Combinatorial game theory and find and apply Abstract strategy games & Solved games; perhaps we should add a general tip suggesting this method to find appropriate categories. I suppose I can imagine creating more subcategories of Combinatorial game theory or Game theory and applying those, perhaps based on concepts in Winning Ways and the like, but that sounds like a great deal more work than I have time for, especially as one ought then also to refine the categorisation of other games!

I see also that you have tagged it as needing non-primary sources, and have added a reference to the book Winning Ways, though I am not sure if that is regarded as primary, secondary or what. I hope that when I receive the 2nd edition of Winning Ways I may be able to better demonstrate the notability of the game, though I feel that the applications to combinatorial game theory mentioned already show it to be significant. @PJTraill: Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner - I see that you've since added more categories, so I'll remove that tag. In terms of sources - it really needs independent sources; has anyone other than Berlekamp written about it? Jmertel23 (talk) 12:58, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the update. I see from the index of Winning Ways Vol III (by Berlekamp, John H. Conway & Richard K. Guy) that Blockbusting is mentioned there, so it is arguably ≥ ⅔ written about by others! But I must devote some time to finding out where else it has been considered.
