Hi Jlefevre76, I have merged your tables into the main Wood article, in a subsection Wood#Tabulated physical properties. I think this is handy to have available in connection with the more detailed (but less specific :) discussions of the separate parameters there. The useful thing with these tables is that one can pre-collapse the, so that they don't take over the article unless unfolded!

I have however removed the hardiness zone columns. This information seemed a little out of place in combination with the purely mechanical parameters; also the sourcing seemed a little dodgy...? (is that really all derived from that one map of uncertain origin?) If there is a more accountable source for this material, maybe a separate table with ecophysiological or agricultural info would be more sensible. Cheers! --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 23:23, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

That's probably fine. Since the objective is to list the mechanical and physical properties of wood and bamboo, agricultural properties are probably not quite as relevant. Adding the hardiness zones was intended to be helpful for a niche user, people interested in agriculture/lumber industrial applications.
I thought I added references to third party botany websites when I found hardiness zones for the various trees (which would have been solid, however maybe I thought I did and never got around to it). In addition, the map's source was probably a little bit "dodgy." It appears to be a hardiness zone map image generated by somebody from the USDA using software, possibly public, possibly private. If I had access to whatever software they used, I would generate a copy of it and list it with appropriate references. While I do not necessarily doubt the accuracy of the map, my ability to cross reference plant ranges with colors on a somewhat coarse, low resolution map is probably limited, and perhaps best left for another page elsewhere anyway. Wood is the product, not the plant, and while such a combination of properties is useful for the niche audience I referred to, it wouldn't necessarily be best to place it on a page dedicated to the product (wood), instead of the industry (forestry). So, it's fine, maybe I can find a more appropriate location for a forestry/industrial lumber niche table. Jlefevre76 (talk) 03:52, 5 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Oh hey, one more thing, is it possible for you to make a copy of the original table before your changes (for me to continue working on, improving) while you rename the table currently on the article "Table of Wood and Bamboo Mechanical Properties"? Jlefevre76 (talk) 04:01, 5 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
