How Can I improve my article?

edit

One of the issues about my article is tagged as: This article appears to be written like an advertisement. I do not attempt to make any kind of promotion or advertising, How can I improve it so it´s set to the guidelines and policies of wikipedia?Jkpaul8 (talk) 04:58, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

The issue isn't so much the quality of the article, as it is whether or not it meets our notability guidelines. I'm assuming you wrote it about yourself, since your username seems quite similar to the name of the article's subject. While writing an autobiography is not in and of itself prohibited, it is strongly discouraged unless you unequestionably meet our notability guidelines. As the administrator who nominated your page for deletion wrote, "The article represents a decent and commendable try at someone trying to use Wikipedia to promote himself while complying with policies and guidelines, but it seems to fall short of Wikipedia:Notability (people)." I concur with him: Thank you for not violating any content policies - I see many autobiographies here, and few are as well-written as yours. However, if you don't meet the notability requirements (and you shouldn't be offended if you don't), no amount of compliance with our other policies will help you. You have, in short, two options:
  • If you feel that you are legitimately notable, you can provide references to significant coverage of yourself in reliable, neutral sources. You may want to check out the notability guidelines on creative professionals, and see what you can do to the article to meet those requirements.
  • Otherwise, you should take a look at this essay on other places you can put what you've written here. You've written a good description of yourself, and it seems perfect for any number of outlets, from a biography on your restaurant's website to a profile on a social networking site.
If you have any questions, you can ask me here or at my talk page. Good luck! — Francophonie&Androphilie (Je vous invite à me parler) 09:30, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Jayanta Kishore Paul. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Jayanta Kishore Paul

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jayanta Kishore Paul, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. CtP (tc) 22:35, 19 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
