December 2021 edit

Hi Jgarry25, Are you still working on a page for Jack Stratton? I was going to start writing one then I saw they blocked your page n stuff. I'd like to collaborate with other contributors and maybe do a project or taskforce on the Vulfpeck guys, Jack Stratton, Joe Dart, Fearless Flyers etc. Cheers, User:Groovymama

Hey there User:Groovymama - yes - I am still working on a page for Jack Stratton. I've been holding off on pushing out the whole thing until I had the entirety of it pulled together. I have mostly everything in bullet points in a document but I am still collecting information for a few sections. I've got sections for early life, his time at The University of Michigan, discography, sound plugins, the "Holy Trinities" series, font collaboration, publicity stunts (Sleepify, etc.), and all his known aliases by which he has gone in the past.

I got blocked because of a COI issue; but that has since been resolved because I do not actually have any affiliation with anyone in Vulfpeck, just forgot to change my username before editing anything serious. Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to make a place for people interested in editing and creating Wiki pages for Vulf Records if that's something you're interested in as well. --Jgarry25 (talk) 01:32, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

♬♩♪♩♩♪♩♬ Hey User:Jgarry25, Yea I'm interested in creating pages for Vulf Records musicians and bands. I like the WikiProject: Musicians group. I think that would be a good outlet for organizing Vulf Records projects. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Musicians

I did a little research on Jack Stratton but only so far as to put a list of some references together. I'm also interested in working on a page for Joe Dart. I'm interested in that whole movement and group of musicians.

I put the start of your Jack Stratton article in with my list of references in my user sandbox. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Groovymama/sandbox

I was thinking about starting a few sandbox pages... for Jack Stratton, Joe Dart, Fearless Flyers. Then you could put up what you have drafted so far for Stratton and we can get other people from the WikiProject: Musicians group involved and get peer review before publishing. That's a way to help make sure articles don't get taken down.

Does that sound like a good plan to you? I'm easy going, lmk if you have other plans.

Cheers ♬♩♪♩♪♩♬ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Groovymama (talkcontribs) 06:36, 24 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:19, 5 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I was blocked for "advertising or promotion". I am in no way affiliated with Vulfpeck and/or Jack Stratton, just a big fan who had their username set to vulfrecords many moons ago and did not change it before editing a Vulfpeck-affiliated page. I have been attempting to create a page for Jack Stratton and will continue to work on this page if I am granted access to edit once again on Wikipedia. I would be happy to answer any and all questions to add clarity to the situation so that the block may be resolved.

Accept reason:

Unblocked. I'll add the "COI" welcome message below so that you're aware of Wikipedia's policies and can check you're in compliance. Happy editing, Cabayi (talk) 11:55, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Renamed. Seems a plausible appeal. Pinging Justlettersandnumbers for agreement to unblock. Cabayi (talk) 14:45, 6 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Cabayi:, as they've not replied, I just wanted to +1 an unblock - the edits made don't construe advertising as is, so the username change and a word to the editor to be careful seems sufficient. I'd advise just going ahead and executing Nosebagbear (talk) 11:10, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Cabayi, Nosebagbear! Looks as if I failed to save my earlier reply here, sorry about that! Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:04, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Welcome! edit

Hello, Jgarry25, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!
